Top Ten Cartoon Themes!

Hello people, after watching the intros of every single cartoon I know of from the early 1930's to present day across Warners, Viacom, Disney and more I have Finally compiled My personal Top Ten Favorite Cartoon Theme Songs! Note that this is in My opinion and by god was it difficult, if a theme you like isn't on here that you think is really great, it probably IS really great its just 10 is a cruelly small number. Also a shows theme doesn't necessarily speak of its quality, I should know as only one of my top 3 favorite cartoons actually made the cut. but first some Honorable Mentions.

Honorable Mentions:
  • Danny Phantom
  • The Angry Beavers
  • The X's
  • Atomic Betty
  • Duck Dodgers

Now to the List

10. Beetlejuice:

Based on the 80's Tim Burton movie of the same name, this Wacky horror cartoon had one of the most wacky and interesting themes of its time. The instruments create a truly haunting mood but not an unwelcoming one as it shows you strange and oddly fascinating things creating a sense of wonder.

9. Darkwing Duck:

Confession time, Most of the 90's Disney cartoon themes don't do it for me, the Huge exception to that is Darkling Duck. This creates a mysterious and jazzy piece that complements the visuals perfectly and not only keeps up with but adds to the energy. The vocals and lyrics are really great too creating a sense of actual hype for this even though Darkling isn't anywhere near as cool and suave as the theme suggests its fitting cause he thinks he is for sure. This theme is dang catchy too, can never here it without rocking out the When theres trouble you call D.W.

8. Welcome To The Wayne:

Fresh new from Nickelodeon, This is the best song I have ever heard for a mystery show, and there are definitely other great ones like Gravity Falls and Wayside. This song creates the wondrous atmosphere the show is going for beautifully with its happy tone and wondrous visuals, not to mention the lyrics creating the feeling that anything is possible. It really does make you feel like you're gonna go on a goodie-esk adventure and what better show to do it in.

7. Freakazoid:

I LOVE this song so much, Easily the most wacky and spontaneous entry on this list this song takes you through the brink of lunacy and makes it so fun and charming you'd let it take you on a fancy dinner date. It really does capture the feel of a wacky insane superhero to a capitol T partly with its Randomness and a lot with that magic only famed cartoon composer Richard Stone can do.

6. Camp Lazlo:

Ah, Camp Lazlo, I only have fond memories with this series, the 2nd show by famed cartoonist Joe Murray has an intro taking the exact opposite direction of that of his first cartoon Rocko's Modern Life. While Rocko's was very lazy intentionally disjointed, Lazlo uses a faster suped up version of Pop Goes the Weasel to actually display Lazlo as more wacky but still being conformed to a existing song melody. which makes sense because while Lazlo is a Wackier character than Rocko, his world is clearly not as wacky, he's what makes it such.

5. Johnny Bravo:

This Song is catchy and perfect, Johnny Bravo is an interesting character to delve into, he's very Elvis like in behavior, he constantly tries to pick up girls and does so terribly but we still really like him cause he seems to do this out of child like innocence rather than being a jerk. This Theme captures ALL of that, the music in both melody and sound is a combination of rock and doo-wop that Elvis is known for. Johnny is coming off as a showoff the entire song but the overall tone is still really inviting and silly.

4. Animaniacs:

How surprising, my 2nd favorite show made it ;), another classic by Richard Stone, this crazy well written and great sounding piece has me laughing, moving loving it every second. It also manages to explain the show quite well in a short time which is unheard of in a variety show. For a very long period of time I was trying to learn this song on my Piano because its simply that good, almost like ragtime. Another funny note is that this theme is actually slightly different every episode due to them constantly changing the penultimate verse.

3. Kim Possible:

SO...CATCHY, Kim Possible's theme is an Earworm for sure, sticking with people even to this day being recognized as the best Disney Theme song and its hard to blame them for that. The techno mix vibe it goes for is perfect for the show about the butt kicking secret agent cheer leader and even similar shows like Totally Spies couldn't capture the sheer awesomeness of that quite like this theme.

2. Phineas & Ferb:

Never said KP was MY favorite Disney theme :P, Phineas & Ferb's theme is sung by my irl favorite band, Bowling for Soup and OMG does it rock. Easily the most high energy theme on this list AND its rock and roll based to boot should give it the top 3 right there. The wacky lyrics and fun visuals and the way it clearly relays you what the show is gonna be about and how its gonna go about it carry it over the top!

1. Tiny Toon Adventures:

Yup, Richard Stone is kicking some butt today, TTA will always have a special spot in my heart for the first theme i learned by heart. This Song was legitimately recorded on Warner Bro's orchestra, the very same one they used for the actual Looney Tunes cartoons and that is fantastic given the theme it so masterfully tells us this show is about, the characters are learning to become great cartoon stars from the Looney Tunes. The song is very wacky, imaginative, meta and hilarious to a degree unmatched by any on this list, and unlike Animaniacs, I actually CAN play this one on a piano...

Thanks so much for reading, also if you love any themes not on this list, Please let me know, I LOVE discussing cartoons so much.
