Magic, one of the most
powerful, versatile and commonly used sources of power in all of fiction. When
wielded correctly, it can make small foes serious threats, and smart foes
unstoppable. But what's most unique is its ability change the world, for better
or worse often being a matter of perspective. Like with Ashley the demonic
Witch from WarioWare, and Lok the divine ‘savior’ of Magicka. I’m Thor
Gundersen1058 and it’s high time we had a good old fashioned Magic Fight!
Background
Ashley
In the Mushroom Kingdom's
famous Diamond City, there rests a mysterious and spooky old Haunted Mansion.
Within this Mansion there lives a young teen witch girl named Ashley. Ashley
was born in a far away land, and moved away from her parents at a very young
age to come to this mansion and train to be a powerful witch.
While her past is mysterious,
in the Present, Ashley is a very hard working, hard studying witch in training
who spends nearly all her time reading, practicing spells and brewing potions,
all with no parental supervision whatsoever.
Ashley lives with a small
demonic imp named Red who assists her in her pursuits. Unlike Ashley Red is
extremely friendly and outgoing and would do anything to please her and be a
good assistant. Ashley, generally considering herself too cool to act like that
tends to be cold or even annoyed at him a lot of the time.
However she does love him and
considers him her best friend, having shown it time and time again. Anyway,
when they aren’t stirring up tons of trouble and magic in Diamond City, these
two are regular employees of the famous Warioware.Inc. Both making and
participating in absurd microgames for Wario and the other wacky citizens of
Diamond City, despite Wario frequently trying to not pay them.
Her reasons for joining such
goofy company are pretty simplistic, see underneath all the creepy goth
persona, Ashley is just really desperate for friends, and though she's a bit
proud to admit it, wants to help people and become amazing at magic both in
order to make more friends. Ashley has been on tons of adventures across
Diamond City and the Demon Realm over her training and no matter what stands in
her way, she never gives up.
Ashley is a fairly complex
character. She at once is very stoic, career focused and extremely confident in
herself and her capabilities, but also can be shy and meek in regards to social
situations. Ashley is hardworking, snarky and mysterious, wanting to act as
though she is above it all, super great and cool. She looks out to accomplish
great things in her own pursuits, but she also feels unsatisfied with those as
the amount of work she puts in has left her somewhat distant and lonely. Ashley
tries to be very dignified, often talking without much emotion with her occasional
witty remarks, and not taking part in activities like dancing or toys due to
them being ‘too girly’. However when her emotions do get the best of her it can
be rather dramatic or intense. Ashley wants to rise in her status and become
really popular and recognized. Her biggest character flaws are her inability to
admit her own weakness and being stubborn. However these also let her push
through obstacles and accomplish great things more often than not. Her biggest
struggle comes from how in order to make friends, one needs to open up to
others, let their guard down and participate in some games and gatherings. And
when she can actually push herself to do that, she’s at her most popular.
Lok
The world of Midgård is often a
silly place, magic makes even Death of little consequence in the long run. But
even in a place such as this there can still exist tragedy.
The manipulator Vlad had
foolishly thrown the world into a decades long conflict known as the Wizard
Wars, pitting Wizards against each other in a magic bout that laid waste to the
countryside and devastated its people. Most wizards involved ended up being
resurrected so many times that their minds broke, leaving them useless babbling
idiots no longer capable of using magic and thus nearly went extinct.
But magic is about balance,
When a wizard releases a fire spell, it causes a spike in cold somewhere else
to match it. When a massive chaos of a magical war happens, it causes a massive
spike in order to balance it out. This immense stockpile of magical potential
energy traveled far and wide, across all of Midgård into the snowy mountain
peaks, where there exists a race of giant warrior beings known as the Vanir.
Here the Magic found its way to
an infant Vanir and infused its power within, this ‘Chosen Child’ is prophesied
to wield infinite Magical potential and unite and lead Midgård into a new age
of prosperity, and her name was Lok.
Lok is the daughter to the
Vanir’s chief Frida, and was mentored by a Vala named Elin in the ways of magic
from an early age. Due to the blessings of the wars magical runoff, Lok was an
immensely talented student and could near instantly master any basic spells
taught to her without much effort.
Lok’s power gained enough
notoriety that she was predicted to be a threat by armies of Orcs and was set
out to be destroyed by the warrior monster, Khan IV the first.
Shockingly though, as Khan IV
arrived a new Wizard showed up and defended Lok, slaying Khan for her. Being
selflessly saved by a seemingly small and weak wizard greatly inspired Lok,
inspired her that even small people can do great things. So much so that when
Lok’s adviser tried to have the Wizard killed, she stopped her and saved The
Wizard by agreeing to keep it as a pet rather than kill them. After that was
settled Lok started on her new goal, Uniting the wartorn Midgård and making it
a better place for everyone.
Lok through her infinite
magical potential created not only new spells but entire new elements, making
her one of the most powerful entities Midgård has ever seen, and by one years
time had build up an entire empire after uniting 4 warring species, however in
doing so she was naive to the fact she was trouncing on the rights of pursuits
in a quest to keep everyone equal and happy, and for this had to be stopped.
She had grown so powerful however that the only way to stop her was with an
ancient and extremely powerful Magicka, Disruptor. Disruptor is an extremely
broken spell that blocks an elemental attack and removes that elemental ability
from the user, turning it into a ball. Through this Lok was able to be defeated
by having her powers confiscated and sent home, and the new age of Wizards
began.
Lok, despite being the final
boss of the game, is a very compassionate person. Lok is kind, merciful,
progressive and likes to rally behind causes she feels are just. She is often
times rather curious and eccentric, finding the wizard wondrous and even cute
and toiling most of her day in her workshop inventing new magic or tools. The
Wizard was a big inspiration to her and as such she saw them as a ally and
friend. This trust she had in the wizard is also why she was so agitated when
they came back against her later. Lok’s biggest character flaws are her spoiled
and inexperience nature. She grew up a prodigy child to a chief, and while she
really wants to help others, doesn’t understand others well enough to know the
best ways to do so. This causes her to be rather uncompromising and think she
knows what is best when she lacks the wisdom to actually see it. Ultimately Lok
is the Order of the Magicka story, in trying to fix the chaos caused by Vlad at
the beginning, she ends up taking it to the opposite extreme and has to be
stopped so things can be the normal status quo again. She is far from evil,
she's just a misguided kid who genuinely wants to make a world where everyone’s
happy.
Intellect & Skills
Ashley
Ashley has been training in
magic since her very early childhood and even now as a teenager, spends so much
of her time reading spellbooks, trying new potions and practicing her spells
that she has next to no social time. Ashley’s spellbook is sentient and can and
has directly walked her through spells when she is making a mistake. Through
this Ashley is actually both the best and most experienced spellcaster in all
of Diamond City. She's also smart and responsible enough to completely take
care of herself and live alone, and is evidently really good in school.
Lok
Lok was mentored since her
early childhood by a Vala named Elin, Vala are very intelligent and clever
witch like people and taught Lok not only normal schooling, but also how to use
magic. Through this, Lok’s protege abilities aren't on magic alone as she seems
to be a real Jack of All Trades in terms of useful skills. Lok is a extremely
talented manipulator who in just one years time was able to unite three
different species of people and forge an empire that stretched across all of
Midgård, and was described as a perfect leader. Additionally Lok is raw
intelligent enough to build artificially intelligent robots, and skilled enough
with magic that it is shown that she herself would have defeated Khan
effortlessly had the Wizard not interfered.
Powers
Ashley
After Training as a Witch her
entire life, Ashley has developed a wide variety of magical powers and spells
she can use by drawing power from the Demon Realm. These spells include:
- Photokinesis:
One of Ashley’s most hard
practiced spells is her ability to manipulate plant life, she is capable of
creating and controlling gigantic carnivorous plant monsters larger than entire
buildings to fight at her side, among other things like manipulating vines and
creating flowers.
- Control Over Weather:
Ashley is casually able to cast
large storms, or even create them just as a side effect of her own spells,
these storms can move in rapidly and cover the sky, as well as rain and other
such storm stuff.
- Summoning:
Ashley has also mastered the
ability to summon demonic entities from the Demon realm. These monsters will
serve her in whatever way she asks while on Earth via her power and are
superhumanly powerful.
- Teleportation:
Handily, Ashley can also
Teleport herself and others at will. Her teleportation was even able to
teleport herself from the Demon Realm back to her house, which means this is
actually cross-dimensional teleportation as well.
- Electrokinesis:
Even without a wand, Ashley can
blast powerful lightning attacks from her hands, these electric bolts travel
even faster than Ashley’s own flight speed and are capable of disintegrating
cookies as large as a person in a single shot.
- Voodoo:
Ashley’s Voodoo powers allow
her to inflict Forced Empathy on to her foe, so long as she can summon or
create a doll that looks vaguely like her victim. Forced Empathy is a hax that
causes the victim to feel and experience pain and damage being done to another
person or object, disregarding durability. She can perform this spell without a
wand.
- Umbrakinesis:
Ashley can also manipulate
Darkness, and is able to quickly coat the entire environment in darkness for
attacks.
- Size Manipulation:
Made pretty iconic by the
English theme, Ashley can alter size and grow herself, others and objects to
the size of buildings, or shrink them to the size of a mouse.
- Telekinesis:
Ashley has also gained Natural
telekinesis, and can use this to casually levitate herself and perfectly move
and control objects around her.
- Transmutation:
One of Ashley’s favorite powers
is her ability to transmutate people and objects. She does this through firing
magical beams and can transmutate multiple beings at once. She has turned
legions of Mandrake into harmless pumpkins and is also stated to have turned
her teacher into a spoon, which would be an instant kill.
- Purification:
Ashley was able to Purify the
powerful demon Hum Gree, who had been corrupted by darkness into a being of
unending gluttony, back into his original loving state.
- Dimensional Travel:
One of the most Esoteric
abilities in Ashley’s arsenal is her ability to open vortex’s which teleport
herself and others into fictional worlds, including the spooky nightmare world,
or the sweet candy world. Ashley can use this to change up her environment, or
even just BFR her opponents. Ashley can also leave these dimensions with her
own magic and it will Always drop her were the book the world originated from
is.
- Superform:
When Ashley gets serious, she
enters into her superform, signified by her black hair turning a ghostly white
as she removes all restraint.
In this form Ashly becomes
vastly physically stronger to the point she can casually coat the horizon in
darkness just by getting mad.
Similarly all of her spells get
a massive boost, gaining a much higher Area of Effect and being able to almost
one-shot boss enemies.
- Dark Zone:
The Dark Zone is a pretty Iconic
spell of Ashley’s, creating a large area of magic that inflicts numerous random
negative effects on the opponent. It can bury them in the ground, turn them
invisible, slow down time, cause them to spatially move the opposite direction
they intend, shrink them, and even invert the effects of things used within it,
such as making healing cause damage.
Lok
As the Chosen Child, Lok’s
magic is her ultimate trump card, making her almost unstoppable in her own
verse. Despite only being a tween, she has unmatched natural talent and can
easily wield all 8 of the Wizards Elements, these elements include:
- Shield:
The Shield element allows its
user to cast energy barriers in a large, LARGE variety of ways. Normal Shields
can take the form of protective walls, all encompassing force fields and even a
skin tight armor that coats the users body.
All of these will deflect
projectiles away and can protect the user from damage, even from foes as strong
as Cthulhu, who is stated to be able to destroy the entire planet of Midgård.
However, Shields can only be hit a small handful of times before dissipating.
Shields can also be affixed
with numerous other elements like fire, ice, electricity and far more, to
unleash these effects upon anyone whom dare strike it.
One can also create numerous
small spherical shields filled with elemental energy called mines, these
detonate upon contact and launch foes far backwards, unleashing the effects of
whatever elements filled it.
Lastly when shields are made
into the skin tight energy armor, they can be mixed with other elements to form
Aura’s. Aura’s allow the user to both absorb and heal from attacks of that same
element, Lightning Aura absorbs lightning, Fire Aura absorbs fire, and so on.
- Earth:
Earth is an extremely versatile
element that grants wielders of it Geokinetic abilities. Able to create and
fire large boulders, generate Earthquakes, encase any object in solid Stone and
much more.
Earth can also be combined with
every element except lightning, to create several different effects. Through
this, Earth users can rain down meteors, make avalanches of snow boulders,
create giant earth walls and armor, and even hilariously make a magic boulder
that heals those near it.
- Life:
The Life Element is described
as being Pure Life Energy and allows the user to manipulate it in any way they
see fit. Life can be used to heal oneself from all forms of injury and
sickness, or also be expelled out as beams or blasts to heal those around you.
Life can also be Imbued into
objects, weapons or elements to heal those near it. Life however cannot be
mixed with Death, and for this reason Life actually deals damage to the undead
like zombies or vampires.
- Death:
The Death Element is described
as Raw Entropy, breaking down causality and order and similar to life, can be
fired off as deadly beams and blasts. Death magic will directly drain away the
lifeforce of whatever it hits, making it the most purely deadly substance that
exists in Midgård.
Death can also be Imbued upon
objects weapons and other elements to greatly increase their lethality to
anyone that comes into contact with them. Obviously though it can’t be mixed
with Life, but funny enough Death Magic actually heals the undead like zombies
and vampires.
- Water:
The Water Element grants
Hydrokinetic abilities, allowing the user to create and manipulate...well
Water. Users can create tidal waves, water streams, geysers and even rain.
Water can be combined with
every element except lightning to other such attacks like avalanches of snow or
Steam which horrendously burns the target and obscured their vision.
- Lightning:
The Lightning Element gives
Electrokinetic powers, able to summon and control lightning and electricity.
Electric beams, bolts and even lightning strikes from the sky that do massive
amounts of damage.
Lightning can be combined with
every element except Earth and Water, and make electric barriers and lightning
imbued fire.
- Cold:
The Cold Element is described
as a complete and total absence of heat, which naturally is absolute zero. Cold
is able to near instantly frost over anything it hits, and can both deal damage
to enemies but also drastically slow them down or even freeze them entirely.
Cold is able to be combined
with every element except Fire, most notably it can be combined with water to
create Ice and be used for all sorts of cryokinetic ice attacks, such as jagged
ice projectiles and spikes from the ground.
- Fire:
Lastly, The Fire Element grants
the user all sorts of Pyrokinetic abilities. Users of Fire can blast streams
and balls of flame and create explosions of burning death.
And yeah, Fire can Imbue tons
of things and every element but Cold to add a more lethal burning touch.
More Deadly than All of these
however is Lok’s ability to create New Elements at will, continually allowing
her to gain potentially infinite new abilities, some elements we know she has
created include.
- Poison:
Poison Element blasts a stream
of toxic and acidic liquid that eats away at afflicted foes health overtime, the
greater the exposure the more assured death becomes.
- Wind:
The Wind Element granted Lok
Aerokinesis, with it Lok can control gasses and air and use it as a weapon.
Her most common use of this is
to create massive balls of compressed air, which track their opponents
movements and detonate on contact. Lok has also displayed the ability to
levitate and fly likely using this ability too.
- Sense:
Sense gives Lok a powerful
awareness of her surroundings, she was able to sense the life force of everyone
in an entire castle, and can recognize who’s lifeforce belongs to who. She can
also sense undead beings like Vlad who is..uhhhhh NOT a vampire?
Lok is also able to sense
someone's levels of power which lets her judge how extreme a threat they may
be.
- Time:
With Time element, Lok gained
access to the Wizards ability to slow down time to a crawl, however Lok has
displayed control enough over this ability to allow it to only affect herself,
so unlike the wizards should be able to slow down others without making herself
slow too. Time Magic also gave Lok Immortality, now unable to grow old.
- Lava:
Lava Element lets Lok summon
and manipulate molten rock in her attacks, blasting streams of lava or
exploding it off of her body.
Lok’s Favorite use of this ability
is to mix it with life and wind in order to create collections of sentient
flying daggers made of obsidian. Obsidian is a volcanic glass sharp enough to
have a monomolecular edge, and these collections will chase around and try to
impale her foe until individually defeated.
- Crystal:
The Crystal Element lets Lok
summon and manipulate crystal and minerals, and she has proven actually fairly
talented with this, using it to construct a lotta ‘projects’ in her workshop
for her cause.
- Bit:
Bit lets her summon forth
pixelated videogame characters to fight on her behalf, because wynaut.
- Singularity:
Singularity is Lok’s most
purely damaging Element, it is somewhat based off the Wizards own ultra
dangerous Vortex Magicka.
Singularity releases a ball of
light which detonates to open a singularity, sucking in a unlucky enemy and
compressing their body, focusing all the damage on multiple compressed point,
making it far more damaging than normal, likely whole levels above.
- Goo:
The Goo element blasts out a
thick viscous slime which traps foes unlucky enough to be claimed by it in the
restraining substance.
- Plasma:
Plasma is an extremely deadly
element that allows Lok to launch the intensely burning substance out as a
projectile weapon.
Its most famous use however is
being used in combination with earth and life to create metal robots that can
tunnel underground and both blast and chain lightning off of each other to make
traps and deal damage.
- Radiation:
With the Radiation Element, Lok
can create legitimate Nuclear Explosions, which blast out with a force of over
14 kilotons, laying waste to everything in its path.
- 8-Ball:
This Last Element comically
summons Giant Falling 8-Balls to be used as a weapon.
Weapons & Equipment
Ashley
- Red:
Red is Ashley’s personal
assistant and best friend. A small imp from the Demon Realm, Red is cheery,
fun, outgoing and will do whatever he can to assist Ashley in any way. While
Red is a massive coward and possesses very little fighting capability, he does
have the ability to shapeshift into anything of similar size to himself.
Through this, he is actually
the vast majority of Ashley’s Weapons and equipment, the most notable form
being Ashley’s Wand, which focuses her magical power and allows her to cast
powerful spells.
Red also has several other
forms including Ashley’s broomstick which allows her to fly through the night
sky, as well as Ashley’s parasol which allows her to gently float to the
ground.
- Witch-Stick:
The Appropriately named
Witch-Stick is a backup wand Ashley possesses so that she is able to use a wand
and broom at the same time, as Red can’t be both at once.
Lok
- Golem:
Golem is the first in a line of
deadly super warriors Lok is developing, a powerful artificially intelligent
robot like creature which treats Lok as his master, whom he is undyingly loyal
to. Golem’s are durable enough to effortlessly tank Lok’s own nuclear attacks,
and similarly strong, they are also fast enough to land hits on Wizards.
Golem’s run on a limited energy supply, which can be depleted through heavy
damages. When Out of energy Lok need only blast it with magic to bring it back
to full power, and in addition it gains effects based on what type of magic it
was refueled with, such as ice, fire or electrical properties.
- Serenity Prison Orb:
The Serenity Prison Orb is an
ancient and powerful magical artifact of the Vanir. It has the power to trap
multiple foes inside of a void like pocket dimension contained within.
This Dimension sustains those
trapped inside without food or water, but it is also impossible to escape due
to its ability to nullify all magic within, undoing all active spells and
preventing more from being cast. The only known way to escape is to shatter the
orb from the outside.
Feats
Ashley
Strength:
- In her enraged form, she was able to
do battle with and defeat the powerful demon lord Hum Gree, a fire
breathing building sized monster that even her friends thought would be
too much for her.
- Can casually create storms as a mere
side effect to performing spells.
- Is said to be So Powerful that she
could conquer the world in a single day and still finish all her homework.
Speed:
- Ashley once flew from the ground all
the way to the moon in 4 seconds, this would require a travel speed of
Mach 264,191.
- Was able to quickly fight back a small
army of Mandrake.
- Can React to her own Lightning and
steer her broomstick.
- Can fight enemies that can keep up
with her broomstick.
Durability:
- Ashley Tanked hopping onto the moon
while traveling relativistic speeds, assuming Ashley weighs 70 pounds, the
Kinetic Energy she would have to tank would be nearly 34 Megatons of TNT.
- Can easily survive terminal velocity
falls.
General:
- Is the most powerful Mage in Diamond
City.
- Was the only Warioware Inc. Employee
that could get Wario to awaken from his nap.
- Defeated an army of Mandrake Roots,
whose voices should be lethal.
- At the end of the day, she DID make
Lots of Friends.
Lok
Strength:
- Lok is a Vanir, which are established
to be one of the most powerful species in Midgård, able to one shot 10
foot Trolls and Orcs, while Lok is still young, she should still possess
higher physical might than the Wizards, who are strong enough to exceed
each other’s Multi City Block level durability with physical strikes.
- Cold Magic can freeze lava and is
implied to be able to freeze whole rivers, both of which require
multi-city block level power.
- Lok can also blast town level magic,
given the vast power of her radiation element.
Speed:
- Lok is fast enough to easily keep up
with Wizards, and is actually reasonably faster than them as Vanir are
physically superior to them in every way. Wizards can casually run at a
comparable rate to falling meteorites.
- The Wizards can also both block and
dodge lighting attacks from each other.
- Wizards can also fight Lightning
Elementals, being who are made of lightning and thus travel at the same
speed.
- Lastly, in one instance the Wizards
traveled across a whole mountain range while destroying the goblin
civilization all in mere in minutes.
Durability:
- Can casually tank the explosion of her
own town level nuclear blasts.
- Tuotenar, a much weaker character, was
able to survive falling from Midgård to Nilfheim, the realm of the dead,
which is pretty clearly terminal velocity at least.
- Assatur’s presence was causing disruptions
across a mountain, and the wizards were fine being subjected to this force
as they fought him.
- Lok’s durability actually scales past
Assatur himself, as The Wizards who were able to defeat him are stated
would not have been able to beat Lok without the new Disruptor Magic.
- Also Lok can not be killed by Vortex,
though how this is possible is not explained.
General:
- Possesses Infinite Magical Potential.
- Is prophesied to quickly conquer the
world in the future.
- In just 1 years time she built a powerful
empire after uniting 4 different species together despite being only a
young teen.
Weaknesses
Ashley
Ashley is overly self confident
in her magical abilities, and is very sure of herself in winning competitions
or defeating enemies. Ironically Ashley has the exact opposite problem
socially, often being very shy and distant due to a fear of rejection in her
desire to make friends. In one of her bios it is stated that Ashley’s spells
only work 40% of the time, however later in that same game, as well as in later
games where she is actually playable, her spells are portrayed as working every
time without fail, suggesting that overtime through practice this is no longer
an issue.
Lok
Lok is Very arrogant in her own
abilities and thinking. She is inexperienced and naive as to what she is doing
on a grander scale and is not easy to convince out of her beliefs. Due to her
immense natural power she has difficulty truly understanding the threat level
of her foes often treating them like misbehaving children or pets who she
doesn't have to treat that seriously.

Battle
Owl’s hooted as smoke arose
from the chimney of the haunted mansion. Lightning flashed, briefly
illuminating the dark foggy night as Ashley and Red worked tirelessly on a new
potion.
"Wow Ashley this potion looks really promising!" Red said with Glee.
Ashley glared over, "Quiet Red, I need Absolute concentration to pull this off"
Ashley grabbed a vile and prepared to add but a single drop to her concoction, Slowly, Carefully...
Suddenly a horn blared from the outside, causing her to drop the vile and an explosion of bubbles filled the room, Pressing the two against the window.
Upon gazing out at the yard, Ashley noticed a large militaristic force of knights and strange warriors entering into Diamond City.
"Hmm, I wonder what this could be." Red stated in confusion.
"I don't know Red, But I don't Like it" Ashley teleported the two of them outside, where a nearby human greeted them.
"Why hello there Young Lady, would you be interested in Joining our Alliance under the leaders..." Ashley suddenly grabbed him by his shirt collar, and pulled him close into a death stare. The human let out a whimper as he gazed into her surprisingly fierce eyes.
"Woah, Chill out Ashley!" Red cried in vain, Ashley wanted information, and he was going to give it.
...
Meanwhile, in Castle Vanirhall, Lok toiled away with her latest Golem Design. It had been nearly a year since she created this Alliance and already it had swept across several more nations, creating new rules for the lesser kingdoms to help them achieve peace. Suddenly a bright light shown across her workshop, causing Lok to drop her tools as a small girl in a red dress teleported inside.
"Oh, Hello there, who might you be?" Lok said, she gazed upon the girl, she was small even by human standards, but Lok new better than to underestimate those whom are tiny, she could sense a large amount of power coming from the girl.
A small, imp like creature spoke up from behind the girls leg. "I'm Red, and she is The Great Ashley, and we..." "Why are you invading my city?" Ashley interrupted.
Lok put her fur covered hand to her chest, hurt by the sudden accusation, "I am not invading your city, I am merely adding it to my glorious Alliance! Under my leadership, this world will see a new age of prosperity, mark my words, you will love the changes I'll make, no war, no famine, no struggle, I truly believe even one as tiny as you can do great things!"
Ashley looked at the girl, whom she learned was named Lok, she was tall, her ears were pointed, her hands hairy and ended in dagger like claws, a rat like tail swung behind her. Ashley was not one to be fooled by sweet talk, as she looked at the large mechanical monster behind the girl a question arose, what use would someone of peace have for that?
"Yeah, thanks but no thanks Lok, I want you to take your annoying forces out of my city so I can get back to my spells" Ashley bluntly stated.
Lok snickered, "that is not for you to decide girl, go back home and start a petition, in the meantime, Elin will show you out" she said turning her back on her.
Ashley, angered, blasted a lightning shot at the girls back, striking her and sending her smashing into a wall where several large rocks fell upon her position.
The Castle shook as fire build up under the rock pile, before the rocks violently exploded away, uncovering an extremely Angered Vanir girl. "H-How DARE You!" Lok cried unable to believe this Ashley's behavior.
"You are going to listen to me, or you are Toast!" Ashley said levitating off the ground, transforming Red into her trusty wand.
FIGHT!
Lok stomped her foot to the ground and erupted forth a wave of sharp stalactites towards Ashley's position which Ashley nimbly teleported away from, before zapping Lok again with her lightning, this time however, the shocks didn't faze her as she took them easily.
Lok decided she would answer this with her Own Lightning attacks, and area cast lighting, filling the room with trails of electric shocks going in every which direction.
To Lok's amazement, the Witch was unfazed as she nimbly dodged every single strike of lightning at speeds Lok could barely even see.
Hm, she is fast, but she's not nearly fast enough to escape Me, Lok thought as she cast one of her own elements, Time. Everything in the room, the wind the lightning and even Ashley herself slowed down tremendously, everything except Lok. "Lets see you play hard to get Now!", the Vanir girl called as she struck Ashley with a powerful clawed slash to the face, sending her to the ground, then kicked her across the room into her new Golem before landing to the ground.
Lok dropped the time slowing effect and loaded herself with water magic, before blasting it into her Golem, charging up its power. The Golem stood, water magic coursing through its fists as it loomed over the tiny witch.
"FULL POWER MY MASTER" The Golem stated. Ashley looked over at a nearby bookshelf.
"Golem, activate the enforcement protocol" Lok cried out as the Golem readied a powerful water blast. The room suddenly grew pitch black as Ashley teleported away from the blast. Unable to see, Lok produced a large flame from her hand, illuminating the room in an orange glow. Ashley having taken one of the books from the shelf, held aloft a page containing a creepy dark forest, and opened a portal, sucking herself, Lok and the Golem inside.
Lok and the Golem fell into the dark forest from the story, as Ashley had Red switch into her broom and pulled forth her Witch-Stick. Ashley cast a spell mutating dozens of the plants in the area into monstrous Piranha Plants, surrounding Lok and her Golem.
"What repulsive world be this, witch?" Lok demanded but Ashley merely snapped as her plants closed in on the two. Lok summoned a Dome like force field to protect herself as her Golem jumped towards the Plants, unleashing mighty punches and powerful water attacks on the carnivorous vegetation. The Plants were too numerous however, and the Golem was quick to sustain damage and lose its magic. "RECHARGE ME MY MASTER" The Golem called, but Lok dare not drop her force field as the plants tolls away at its line, soon it would fail.
Thinking quickly, Lok recast her forcefield, as the plants dog-piled all around her.
Ashley huffed, having defeated that hairy lunatic, only for all the plants to suddenly freeze over completely as Lok has imbued her latest shield with Cold. Lok bursted through the plants, levitating with her wind element to meet the waiting witch. "Did you Really believe that would stop ME?" Lok called in even more anger.
Ashley shrugged, "Its not like you've impressed me yet"
The Nerve of this girl's mouth, Lok thought, she must respect the chosen one! Lok created numerous balls of wind with her element and flew towards the witch, Ashley easily dodged and stopped the wind projectiles with her own Telekinesis and sending them back towards Lok. Lok in return, Selfcast shield around herself, creating a energy armor that took the wind blasts with no issue. Ashley then telekinetically flung Lok into the ground, creating a crater, but still Lok stood unfazed.
Hmmmmmm, that shield magic actually is rather impressive, but it can't protect her from everything, Ashley thought as her wand transformed.
Lok stood up as the smoke cleared when suddenly she felt a stabbing pain in her chest. "WHAT?" Lok cried going to her knees, what had happened, her shield was still up, how could she be hurt?
Ashley flew down before her, in her hands were a small doll barring resemblance to Lok, and a needle. "Seems I have finally gotten your attention, do let me know when you give up" Ashley said pricking the doll more times, each one inflicting tremendous pain as blood began to stain Lok's tunic.
How can this be? Lok thought, This doll can somehow hurt me behind a shield? Lok gripped her wounds it didn't matter how she was doing this, one thing was sure about it, whatever that Doll was, it was Death Magic.
Ashley gazed as Lok's shield suddenly turned red, becoming a Death Aura. Ashley frowned stabbing the doll more only to see Lok's wounds miraculously start healing. "W-What?" Ashley said as Lok arose, "So, you wanted to be impressed?" Lok said as she snapped her fingers.
The Earth shook as the forest was consumed in a tremendous nuclear explosion, Launching Ashley skyward, covered in scrapes and bruises. Lok used her goo element to entrap her in a bunch of sticky slime as she crashed to the ground immobilized.
"I should kill you for your crimes against me, but you are rather cute so it couldn't hurt to keep you...as a pet" Lok said as the pulled out her Serenity Prison Orb, pointing it at the immobile witch.
In a white flash, Ashley was sucked into its dimension, her Broomstick reverted back to Red due to the magic nullification as they became trapped inside...
....until. The forest shook as the entire world became light, the Orb having nullified Ashley's spell that brought them here in the first place, freeing her from the Orb as it dropped the 4 of them back in Lok's workshop.
Ashley waisted no time blasting the Orb out of Lok's hand shattering it on the floor.
Lok waisted no time charging up her recovered Golem with Plasma Magic as he rose up again.
"Eeek" Red cried in fright at the giant robot. "It'll be okay Red, I've got this" Ashley proclaimed as the room grew dark, a massive storm raged outside and the walls of the castle collapsed as Ashley's raven black hair turned a Ghostly white.
"Eeek" Red cried in fright at the giant robot. "It'll be okay Red, I've got this" Ashley proclaimed as the room grew dark, a massive storm raged outside and the walls of the castle collapsed as Ashley's raven black hair turned a Ghostly white.
The Golem pounded the ground and a massive amount of electricity shocked the whole area through the rain, launching Ashley back, but Ashley was quick to recover as she jumped back and punched the Golem with an electric explosion powerful enough to overload and disable its battery entirely.
"Hmmmm, how curious, she can enhance her performance as well, I will have to make some of these into Elements when this is over" Lok said turning to face the now ghostly haired Witch.
Lok erupted a massive wave of lava from the ground, Ashley blocked it with telekinesis, but from the ground around her rose dozens, hundreds even, of glowing knives which surrounded Ashley and flew at her in stabbing motions. Most of them glanced off or shattered, but some managed to break the tiring witch's skin as she couldn't dodge them all.
Lok flew above Ashley and delivered a wave of poison down towards the witch, who recognizing the substance from her studies, knew to avoid at all costs.
Lok could sense her fear of the substance and let out enormous waves of the substance as Ashley narrowly avoided it. in a pinch Ashley called upon her first spell, "Pantalones Gigantes!"
In an instant Lok's pants grew the size of a hot air balloon and blocked the poison stream as it fell overtop of Lok and flung her to the ground.
Ashley ran towards Lok's Position, who emerged embarrassed and poisoned from the garmets.
"Urg, you Freak what is WRONG with you? I am ending this NOW" Lok called as she launched her most dangerous element, Singularity. Ashley continued forward, when suddenly a light exploded behind her, the Light Pulled Ashley toward it, trees broke down and were crushed into powder at the massive concentrated force. Ashley was flung back towards the portal, reaching and pulling out her witch-stick. Right as she reached the singularity she cast her own most powerful spell, The Dark Zone. The area coated in Darkness as the singularity became more of a White Hole, launching Ashley away, towards Lok, much to Lok's shock.
Ashley fired a blast from her wand. Without a moment to lose Lok cast wall shield, but the Dark Zone's inversion made it appear behind Lok rather than infront, Leaving her defenceless as the beam permanently transmutated her into a spoon...
KO!
Red flew by, "You did it Ashley!"
Ashley smiled grabbing his hand, "Yeah, she was right about one thing though"
Red looked up, "Little people can do some pretty cool stuff"

This is a very complex fight
when looked at very closely like this. Lok’s summons and Golem are more
numerous, while Ashley’s summons and plants are stronger. The two have an equal
number of potential one-shot abilities, Lok’s Orb and Singularities and
Ashley’s Dimensional BFR and Transmutation. And these two are largely able to
tank most of the others arsenal with their own physical durability, though each
are also susceptible to chip damaged overtime. With Relativistic Speed, better
flight and teleportation, Ashley clearly had the mobility advantage, But Lok
had a great deal of powers that could mitigate that, like sensing her, slowing
time, or using goo, ice or singularity. Ashley could raise her power enough to
one shot with her superform, but Lok’s shields were strong enough to hold even
that back. That’s how a lot of this fight works actually, Ashley has better
stats, yet Lok has better variety to counter it. Now one could argue that
having superior stats is better because it requires one to think less
strategically, but considering how intelligent Lok is and her great senses,
it’s reasonable she could be strategic enough to counter blow for blow. The Key
to this victory is in the small details. First off is probably one of the
biggest advantages Ashley had, The Dark Zone. The Dark Zone’s random chaos may
normally not be reliable on its own to defeat a foe, but it does do something
Lok couldn’t compensate for, make her Own magic unreliable, and if Lok can’t
rely on her own magic she can’t defend herself from Ashley's own arsenal and
greater speed. This also uncovers a even greater advantage Ashley has, The Dark
Zone is basically the effects of several different spells in Ashley’s arsenal
all at once, this means Ashley is able to cast multiple spells at once,
something neither Lok nor any magicka character can do. When you consider this
weakness, you realize Lok going up against Ashley’s superform would not be able
to hinder Ashley’s speed and defend with shields at the same time and would
eventually slip up and go down. Ashley could not only dodge most of Lok’s
attacks much more easily, but her own Telekinesis would let her stop all of
Lok’s attacks save for the life and death beams. A great deal more of Ashley’s
spells do not exist in the Magicka than Lok’s do in the Mario world as well.
Also while not as smart as Lok overall, Ashley is clearly the more experienced
mage who has had to struggle and experiment a lot more to get where she is,
crafting herself to a finer proficiency. It is for these slight advantages that
Ashley would edge out over Lok in the long run, looks like the Vanir just
couldn’t handle her BeWitching Personality.
The Winner is Ashley.

Great job Thor! Your blog was amazing, as are all your blogs! :)
ReplyDeleteFor both analysis sections I think you did a great job capturing both of their characters. You are probably one of the best Lok writers I know, which is saying something. I thought you did a good job explaining their varied magical powers quickly.
I also thought the fight scene was very good, my favorite part being Lok using a death aura to absorb the voodoo of Ashley's magic. It was very fast paced, which was nice! You also did a pretty good job setting up the conflict between them! :)
I am a big Magicka fan and want to commend you on your job integrating this sometimes difficult to work with verse, given it's lack of details. That you found the usages of so many of Lok's powers is very impressive and I appreciated your ever keen and sharp attention to details. Warioware also seems to be in a similar camp though I am not as aware of that series so it's harder to tell.
I must confess, I don't know much about the next time character, though I am sure it being one of your blogs I shall be both entertained and informed well! :)
Overall I think you did a really great job!
This was fast, I didn't expect to be enjoying this blog this soon! As I said before, I had next to no idea who these two were before getting into this blog and now I consider myself educated, thanks to you. Loved the score as usual, captured two things I love to listen which is cute/whimsical with a little bit of spooky on Ashley's side and grand, classic high fantasy on Lok's side. Hearing you go outside both franchises for fight music that still thematically fit perfectly was a pleasant treat too, well done!
ReplyDeleteI thought the possible combinations of magic Magicka Wizards could use was an insanely diverse variety of spells but Lok CAN JUST MAKE UP NEW ONES?! WHAT?! This is nuts! How can any wizard fight that? To be honest, I went through most of the blog thinking Lok had this in the bag and that things were kind of one-sided here; Ashley's the best in town but Lok is literally the chosen one. That is, until I got to those feats. This is actually a lot closer than I expected, I'm happy to be surprised!
If anybody reading this hasn't read the blog yet, scroll up!
I'm reminded of a certain other blogging mutual friend of ours when I think of how neat it is these mages have all kinds of counters for each other; it really keeps the fight interesting! One of the best examples was using the voodoo doll to get around Lok's shields; I considered the shield magic to be one of Ashley's biggest obstacles to get over in this match. And Lok had a counter to that counter! I made a big mistake not factoring in The Dark Zone very much; I kind of dismissed it due to its seemingly random nature as I didn't know how to factor that in. Though it turns out, even though Lok has a much larger variety of counters, The Dark Zone seems to be able to somewhat act as a blanket counter so to speak; even if it just reverses things, that can take care of a lot of Lok's seemingly endless ARSEnal (emphasis on arse, Magicka fans will understand ;)). Then it really comes down to being able to apply that thing properly. Hopefully Ashley's cool head will prevail (bit of a speed advantage doesn't hurt either) but this one's still too close for me to call. So I'll leave it in your hands, I'm happy with the victor you picked. I love these close fights!
Next time, looks like Halloween is coming in summer! The Ring always gave me the heebie-jeebies, maybe I shouldn't have watched your trailer in dark! Great work on it, and on this blog! Thanks for providing another entertaining fight, looking forward to another one some day!
Another great blog Thor! It was fun to read about these two characters. I would never have thought to pair these two series together but these characters match up surprisingly well. I like how experience and intelligence are big factors in this fight alongside their powerful magic
ReplyDeleteI think you wrote both of their character interactions very well in the battle. I loved reading Ashley's confrontational attitude clashing with Lok's arrogance. It was fun to see how their magic interacted. Ultimately, I'm glad Ashley won, but Lok turned out to be a surprisingly interesting character with her genuinely good intentions despite being a major threat in Magicka.
Magicka's sense of humor, characters, and magic system from what I've read of these blogs are really neat. I really oughta play it at some point.
I'm strangely excited for the next time. I never watched the Ring movies, but I am very interested to see what kind of moveset Sadako has (you really captured the creepiness in your trailer...).
