With my 2nd Cartoon Network V
Nickelodeon fight underway, it’s about time I got back to good old Nick with
another VS Strategy Guide. We have a treat today as we cover one of the most
famous Nick verses which I used in my very first prediction blog, That’s right!
We’re tackling Jimmy Neutron, and seeing just what characters can Blast this
verse!
Island Tier:
This is the base tier for human
level characters in Jimmy Neutron, it's where Jimmy himself would go if we were
only judging him physically, and also where all of his friends, most of the
villains and various other entities belong. Characters in this tier are Island
level, scaling off of Jimmy flying into and reversing a Tornado large enough to
extend thousands of miles into space, with his body. They are also MHS from
Jimmy being able to dodge lightning in the Attack of the Twonkies game, as well
as all the characters having MFTL reactions due to every kid in town being able
to pilot Jimmy's spacecrafts.
Also, not sure where to put
this, but for some reason everyone in the series can survive in the vacuum of
space completely uninhibited.
So the first thing one might
notice in this series is that it has crazy high secondary stats in the
categories of intelligence and more surprisingly skill. There are numerous
genius entities besides Jimmy in this series, ranging from his peers like Cindy
and Libby who can also invent level 1 technology fairly quickly, to numerous
evil super geniuses like Professor Calamitous, Baby Eddie and Evil Jimmy, who
can each compete with Jimmy’s own intellect and invent all sorts of level 2-3
tech fairly quickly. Skill wise, there is a lot to cover, so first and foremost
you have normal civilians like Hugh and Mr. Wheezer who are both established to
be uncoordinated losers in verse, but are still able to fight off a large
number of plant monsters with higher stats then them with skill. Above them
you’d have the black ops secret agents like Beautiful Gorgeous and Jet Fusion,
each of whom are superhumanly skilled masters of 112 different martial arts.
Above that you would have users of the Eye of The Tiger, when Sheen unlocked
this he was able to instantly beat up a martial artist who could take down an
entire army of ninja’s blindfolded, as well as straight up Fly through sheer
enlightenment, an ability that Sheen could then match, but even he is below the
likes of Cindy. Cindy is an insane black ops martial artist who could Oneshot
that flying dude, fly herself, run straight up walls and was compared to, and
proved herself equal, to that of Borlocks, an alien race of Super-Warriors…..so
needless to say going hand to hand or mind to mind against Jimmy Neutron
Characters is not the BEST strat as you’d have to have some really high level
feats yourself to keep up.
Going into the abilities of
this verse, there are numerous characters that have innate superpowers, such as
The Phantom of Retroland, an intangible ghost entity as well as Libby who is
able to generate a High Note that disrupts all nearby machinery. Most of the superpowered
entities in this verse however are Aliens utilizing natural abilities. There
are a few elemental aliens like the Martians who are made of stone and have
advanced Geokinetic abilities, as well as the electrical space jellyfish that
casually absorb all surrounding electricity and attack with it. Another issue
is the alien species with mental manipulation abilities, this includes The
Brains who are able to trap foes minds in super intricate illusions and dream
like nightmare worlds, and even more dangerous, Grandma Taters, who was able to
mind control everyone in the entire city of Retroville under mass hypnosis. But
the most dangerous Alien Entities in the series are certainly the Twonkies.
Twonkies are shapeshifting elastic alien terrors that are able to combine to
form into a giant Behemoth creature, this creature is Massively stronger than
any of the other characters in this tier and can have numerous elemental powers
such as fire, electricity and cold powerful enough to freeze a small lake, but the
REAL threat of Twonkies is the fact that their physical bodies are completely
Impervious to every single weapon in JIMMY’S Arsenal, meaning haxes like
transmutation, digitization, mind manipulation, spacetime manipulation and even
Existence erasure will not work.
Also there's obviously a lotta
super technology at this tier, Professor Calamitous has robot suits, sleep gas,
force fields and an ultimate disintegrator cannon that turns matter to nothing.
Dr. Sydney Moist can transmutate people into Algae Men which serve his every
whim. Baby Eddie can overload any technology to detonate, Eustace Strych has a
Robot Adaptoid, a battle robot that can copy any robots attacks and abilities
with x10 power, and theres of course Jimmy’s dog Goddard.
So what would be some effective
strategies to use here?
Well as I said before
attempting to fight some of these characters head on is not an efficient
strategy due to their immense skill and mental capabilities, Mind hax and
various Matter hax are serious threats to deal with, on top of that some
characters have some pretty good hax resistances and between Libby’s highnote,
the space jellyfish, and the robot adaptoid, using your own technology against
the verse wouldn’t work out great either.
But there are several
weaknesses with this verse, one I noticed is while there is a Lotta damage they
can do to someone on the Physical and Mental planes, there is pretty much
nothing affecting the Astral plane, in fact this is such a problem that the few
astral beings that do exist like the Phantom of Retroland are portrayed as the
most terrifying threats in the verse. This is because unlike most series the
astral plane is considered a higher plane than the Mental one here, as it is
more abstract and far away from the science the series is going for, so Any
astral abilities is a surefire way to be broken. As for other strategies, yes I
said trying to use technology against them isn't efficient but being able to
disable or control technology IS as at the very least it can take a great deal
of threats away right off the bat. Lastly, the characters in this tier that do
have hax, are basically all hax glass cannons, they cannot resist what they
dish out. An Example of this would be:
Queen Bee:
Queen Bee from the Panty and
Stocking series would be pretty Op here, being able to scale to the MHS feats
of the title girls, while that would not be quite as good as the stats of the
characters in this tier it really matters not. Queen Bee is a shapeshifting
Ghost entity that can spawn hundreds and hundreds of mind control bee drones
from her person, that take over the minds of those they attach themselves too,
this would essentially let her do what Grandma Taters was doing to the city,
only even more effective due to her intangibility preventing people like Cindy
from beating her up to stop her. While her mind control would not be able to
bring down the Behemoth Twonkie, she would be able to learn how to defeat the
creature using horribly off key singing if she were to find out from one of the
many mind controlled civilians. And don’t forget thanks to Astral being above
Mental in Jimmy Neutron basically no hax ability will affect her either, Really
the only threat to her would be The Phantom of Retroland getting into a ghost
fight with her, where she could Possibly lose if she doesn't play her cards
right. For a better option…
Brain Drain:
You could use Brain Drain from
Skullgirls. Brain Drain is an ASG Agent and should be comparable to the feats
of fellow ASG Agents in the City Level and Hypersonic Range, while that isn’t
as powerful as the characters in this tier, the direct approach is not his
style. Brain Drain’s psychic abilities are unmatched in the Skullgirls world,
he is able to not only mind control all these Jimmy Neutron characters, but
levitate and block attacks with telekinesis, read his foes minds, alter their
memories, and control their bodies. It would be extremely difficult for anyone
to beat him before he busted out one of these broken moves on them, and that's
IF they even manage to get into a direct fight with the guy, as Brain Drain is
able to make mental projections of himself pop up on a city wide basis. These
projections are capable of Possessing people and forcing the characters here to
fight against each other while he watches from the shadows. Best part is his
attacks, including his optical laser blasts, are powered by Theonite, a
substance that can hit souls meaning he Could take down the Twonkies and the
Phantom. The only problem I could see for Brain Drain is his cybernetic parts becoming
disabled by a lucky shot from one of the anti tech weapons, but for my last
counter this isn’t a problem.
Technus:
Technus from the Danny Phantom
series like PERFECTLY encapsulates what an op character for this tier would be,
having pretty much everything he needs to take down the series. Technus is the
ghost master of all things Technology and Mechanical, he should very well scale
to feats of other mid tier ghosts like Skulker who was able to create an entire
island with his ghostly energy, as well as being personally able to fire lasers
that move 12% the speed of light and fight foes that can dodge them, putting
him on par in DC and between the movement and reaction speed of characters in
this tier.
As a ghost, Technus is able to
fly, turn intangible and invisible, which already should make it almost
impossible for anyone here to be able to catch, let alone fight this guy. But
even if they did with The Phantom of Retroville going ham on him, Technus has
shown he can quickly regenerate from being reduced to a puddle so stopping him
would be almost impossible. What makes Technus so especially deadly though is
his unmatched technopathy abilities, he is not only able to take control of any
and All technology this verse can throw at him, but use it to grow
exponentially more powerful, even normal anti tech strategies this verse has
like Libby’s high note would completely fail to work as Technus is also a data
manipulator who can keep machines running when they would normally be having
catastrophic failure.
Basically Technus is a
character that has everything this verse is weak against and nothing they could
capitalize on.
Planet Tier:
Here we have the top tier
characters of the verse, those being Tech Boosted Jimmy Neutron, as well as the
most powerful villain in the entire series, Meldar Prime. Jimmy’s technology
allowed him to fly from Earth to outside the observable universe in a lowend
timeframe of 24 hours, requiring speeds of several Trillions of times the speed
of light. Jimmy’s tech also can destroy an entire planet through numerous
means, such as having him grow to planet sized, or erasing the planet from
existence, this is also matched by Meldar who can straight up destroy planets
of his own will. So Planet Level MFTL is the limit for counters here.
This tier despite having much
less characters is significantly more versatile, mostly due to Jimmy’s insane
intellect giving him a Vast arsenal of powerful weapons he can call upon
mid-fight from his pocket dimension. Through his technology, Jimmy can freely
manipulate Gravity, Magnetism, Time, Space, Size, Genetics, and even other
Minds, including their memories, thoughts and level of intelligence. Without
some manner of resistance even getting close to someone who has all that would
be extremely difficult, but Jimmy also has a lot of mobility boosting powers
just in case. He can fly, teleport, turn invisible, read minds, and even send
people to other dimensions. He's got a few other powers like hacking into
complex machinery (or even magic), freezing the entire area including the air
and resurrecting the dead. But his greatest defense is his forced empathy that
absorbs any physical damage or pain that Would be inflicted on Jimmy and
bounces it onto his adversary. In tandem his greatest offenses are his haxes
like Transmutation, Digitization and Existence Erasure, 3 different types of
Matter Hax that one shot absolutely anything with a physical form.
But Jimmy isn’t the Only foe
you have to deal with here, as you also have to stop Meldar Prime, the most
powerful villain in the entire series. Meldar is an all powerful, intergalactic
game show host who destroys the home planets of all the losers, he can bend
space, twist time and warp reality with but a snap of his fingers. Meldar can
regenerate his body from being blasted to very small pieces, as well as create
and control matter, reflect attacks, manipulate energy and a bunch of other powers
that Jimmy already showcased.
So what strategies are
effective in this tier?
Well despite the much larger
range of hax this tier has the same weaknesses the last tier had still apply,
only the degree of the weakness is shifted around, unlike the last tier, who
while they use technology, still have a bunch of natural powers, this tier
absolutely relies on technology to fight and would be completely helpless
without it. This includes Meldar, as all of his powers actually come from his
Matrix Generators, reality warping tech in his cufflinks. If you get a powerful
technopath in there to disable or control their technology they would be
Completely Boned. The verse is still very much unable to effect foes without a
body or mind to attack and furthermore this tier has an added weakness, that
being both Jimmy and Meldar are arrogant to the point of reckless behavior in
combat, which could prove costly.
Someone I feel could capitalize
on this:
Dark Samus:
You could use Dark Samus from
the Metroid series. Dark Samus is able to scale past Gorea, who was fast enough
to rapidly destroy a galactic civilization as speeds millions of times the
speed of light, as well as being powerful enough to fuze with an entire Planet,
giving her similar stats to the characters of this tier, albeit a few 1000
times slower. Dark Samus is a Genius and Master Martial Artist, Phazon user a
substance that deteriorates any physical matter it comes into contact with via
matter manipulation, even including entire planets, this would be enough to
tear through any defense in the verse, and since Dark Samus is obviously
resistant to Phazon, even Forced Empathy wouldn’t be able to counter this.
Dark Samus is able to Regenerate from being reduced to mere particles or even less, as well as turn intangible
which would prevent anything from effecting her. She can scan enemy weaknesses
which would allow her to target their most dangerous tech and disable it
immediately. Oh and did I mention she can absorb and utilize the abilities of
all technology she comes in contact with? So that would allow her to bolster
her already impressive arsenal against them.
That said even this isn’t a
flawless strategy as Dark Samus is still a physical entity and could get
defeated via Existence Erasure or Digitization if she isn’t very cautious with
her Intangibility, for an alternative.
Glitch:
Glitch from the Lilo & Stitch! Series. Glitch is the 223rd evil genetic experiment created by Jumba, and as such scales to the feats of other Experiments who were able to endure planet destroying explosions and move at highly massively hypersonic speeds. While his speed is significantly slower than the characters in this tier it matters not as Glitch is able to convert his entire physical body into Electrons and shrink down to the microscopic level, this means any and all physical attacks or hax they try to land on him in this state would be a mute point, as he possesses no physical body, and all experiments are naturally resistant to mind manipulation. But while the characters in this tier would seriously struggle to harm him, boy oh boy can he harm them. Glitch’s main purpose is to infect any and all technology like a computer virus Plague and add it to his hivemind of control, making it turn on its owners. This power made him a serious threat in the Lilo & Stitch! Series but in a series with even MORE advanced tech and even less naturally superpowered foes to stand in his way, Glitch would quickly rise to become a devastating force of science that couldn’t be contained. Their only chance to stop him would be to either take him out IMMEDIATELY before he could react, or to use time manipulation on him, but even that last one has a flaw because they need Technology to do it so that could obviously go south too.

That being said with his speed
disadvantage it is somewhat possible to pull off, for the best of Both Worlds.
ARIA:
ARIA from the Killer Instinct
Series would be extremely OP in Jimmy Neutron. ARIA is a completely digital AI
entity, lacking a physical body OR an actual mind to effect at all, the only
way they could have any hope of effecting her would be through hacking
but….well good luck with that. ARIA is a Super intelligent entity, able to read
and watch all media created by man throughout history at a rapid pace and
analyze all of it in minutes, as well as effortlessly defeat a Chess
grandmaster after playing the game twice. She is also a powerful technopath
able to enter into new technology and add it to part of her hivemind. ARIA
Controls a massive army of powerful technology and cybernetic warriors, as well
as controlling numerous powerful bodies that scale to Gargos’ planet busting
feats and can digitize itself. Digitization in particular is one of the most
dangerous haxes in Jimmy Neutron as well so would be pretty easy to use that against
them. Overall ARIA is an entity almost 100% immune to anything this verse can
throw at her and could overwhelm the characters in this tier with hax and force
from both her own and THEIR own aresnels, this battle would be over before it
began.
Cool Strategy Guide Thor! Verse seems really interesting with it's sheer technological hax diversity, as well as it's very high skill and intelligence for it's tiers and it's very high speed for it's higher tier.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cool how each final counter was somewhat of a fusion of the two counters before it. I was happy to recognize Queen Bee and Technus. I imagine it would be really interesting seeing the normally technological verse fight ghosts like those two, though from what you describe it seems the verse has a local ghost haunting the area. But it doesn't seem either as hostile or as hax as Queen Bee's mass mind control or even moreso Technus' diverse ghost arsenal and control of technology (which was a common theme for the counters in general)
I was shocked to see Dark Samus! Dark Samus is one of the strongest planetary characters I know which really goes to show just how much of a challenge this verse must have been. While she's only the first counter here, I personally think she could probably beat the next counters due to speed and hax, but I guess they are better specialized to dealing with this particular verse :)
I only had limited knowledge of Brain Drain and Glitch and basically no knowledge of Aria outside of what I recalled from your KI blog. Brain Drain sounded quite intimidating while Aria somewhat reminded me of GLaDOS with that one feat of hers.
The verse seems really entertaining with it's large amount of strange inhabitants though even the local humans seem to get into it with even seemingly normal humans being superhumanly intelligent, skilled and so on. I guess that is the spirit of science then, to propel man and his understanding headfirst into the supernatural mists, illuminating it to light the way for the future.
Great blog! It’s nice to see a series that I’m pretty familiar with receive a strategy guide (I even played that Twonkies game). With how heavy on technology this verse relies, it was probably a good idea to separate tech enhanced characters from regular characters. It amuses me how much the Phantom of Retroland factored into your analysis of the series, but also a cool example of the weaknesses of the verse. And I think the characters you chose really take advantage of the astral plane weakness, especially with strategies such as possession and intangibility. Technus really is the perfect counter for the island tier with his ghost abilities and technopathy; it’s like he’s handmade to be a major villain in the verse. It is interesting to see how much more useful technopathy is in the planet tier. Dark Samus seems like a beast in this verse with her phazon, regeneration, and intangibility; her technopathy almost seems unnecessary but really shows how op she would be. Glitch seems like another character that would be a perfect villain for the verse. And ARIA is a pretty neat counter with how much she can use digitization in a way that’s much better than the inhabitants of the verse.
