Death Battle Analysis: Freddy Krueger

Hey all my fellow G1’s, it has been awhile hasn’t it, but I’m glad to be posting my first official new blog on this new site. It is even more exciting that it happens to be on one of the most iconic villains in all of horror, so I’ll just cut to the chase, ladies and gentlemen, I give you, Freddy Krueger. I hope this doesn't give you nightmares…

Background

The story of Frederick Charles "Freddy" Krueger is what I’d call exactly as f*cked up as one would expect. You see old Freddy’s mom, Amanda Krueger, was a nun serving at the rather inhumane Hathaway House for the insane. This house featured a careless staff, horrible living conditions and a tendency to lock up all 100 inmates in a large room with a side of cattle over holiday breaks like a bunch of animals.

In December of 1941, Amanda Krueger was mistakenly locked up alone with all of those criminally insane psychos over the holidays, where every single one of them brutally beat and raped the poor young nun one by one over and over. When help finally arrived Amanda was barely clinging on to life, and was pregnant with one very special boy. Yep, Freddy is legitimately the bastard son of 100 maniacs, and don’t think his foster dad, peers or general public forgot to ostracize him for that.

After years of public ridicule and domestic abuse, Freddy started showing both sociopathic and psychopathic behaviors. He beat class pets to death with hammers, began enjoying pain and murdered his adoptive father with a straight razor, which the police were apparently never able to pin on him. Once that ended Freddy moved to Springwood, Ohio and got a job as a power plant technician and lived in a nice house with his lovely wife and daughter. It would seem like it had worked out okay, had Freddy not also secretly been a filthy child murderer. Freddy would go to the local elementary school and lure innocent children to an abandoned boiler room at his power plant, where he would terrorize and kill them, usually by gouging their eyes out with his bladed glove and cremating their bodies in the furnace. The monster killed 20-30 neighborhood kids, earning him the infamous title “The Springwood Slasher”, nothing could stop his reign of terror. In fact when his wife discovered his room filled with weaponized gloves and singed children's toys, he killed her in front of their daughter. As you may realize, it wasn’t long before the cops figured out this nut job was responsible. They arrested him, brought him to trial, made a dynamite case and the jury sentenced him guilty of all charges. Everything worked out until it was discovered the search warrant for Freddy’s house was not properly signed, meaning Freddy was let off scot free. 

Obviously none too satisfied with the trials result, the citizens of Springwood formed an angry mob and tracked Freddy down to that same old boiler room. They then poured gasoline around all the sides and lit that f*cker up with a molotov cocktail and watched Freddy burn to death in the fire. 

Upon his death, Freddy met the Dream Demons, three flying ghost tadpole things who happen to be the gods of the dream realm. The Dream Demons sought out the most evil soul on earth to act as their agent in destroying the barrier between the Dream world and the Real world, and this naturally lead them to Freddy. The Demons offered Freddy immortality and their mighty dream powers in exchange for his service in spreading chaos, and of course he happily agreed. The demons then fused with his body, turning Freddy Krueger into a bloodthirsty incubus bent on murdering the children of the people who killed him.

Freddy became a terrifying monster, going into the dreams of the teenagers of Elm street and subjecting them to some of the most surreal and horrific nightmares possible. These nightmares were so horrible his victims would legitimately die from them. You see the thing about Freddy’s nightmares is whatever happens to you in the dream will happen to your physical body in real life. If you die in the dream, you are dead for real. Considering Krueger is a merciless, pitiless mass murderer with near complete control over the dream world, his body count naturally went through the roof. And with him being cut off from the real world and peoples natural need for sleep, there was no way to stop or escape him. The children of Elm street have tried every way in their power to kill him. They’ve pulled him out of the dream realm, took away his energy, burned him with the power of love, gave his skeleton a burial, blessed him with holy objects, had the souls of his victims rip him apart, separated him from the dream demons, set him up in a fight with Jason Voorhees, trapped him inside the Necronomicon and most weirdly, reverted him back to a baby and trapped him inside his dead mother's womb...Ooookay. But Freddy is always back to business as usual before any children start to miss him. Naturally he didn't stay exclusive to the children of Springwood though, cause you know what they say…

Personality/Intellect

Freddy Krueger is, no ifs ands or buts about it, one of the absolute worst humans to ever live. He not only has no empathy for human life but actually enjoys killing, especially little girls. He is a racist, incestuous sexual fiend and psychopathic killer who steals people's souls and has absolutely no remorse. In a battle he legit has no sense of morality and restrains only to induce further torture. But Freddy is first and foremost a showman, he enters into his game of murder with an excitable glee and has the time of his life terrorizing his victims while laughing, doing magic tricks, delivering one liners and reveling in the fact that no matter what he does they are helpless before him and will be scared anyway. He's shown to be very creative in how he uses his powers to torture and kill his victims and actually quite clever given how he was able to come back from death numerous times and even hold his own against Jason without the majority of his powers.

Glove

During Freddy’s days as The Springwood Slasher, he grew a hobby for fashioning a variety of different blades to work gloves in order to use as torture tools and murder weapons on his victims. 

Freddy’s favorite and signature glove is made of leather with custom back and finger plates made of metal and four seven inch long blades at the tips of the fingers. 

Freddy forged these blades into a custom shape from scratch out of steel pipes. Despite the claws being made of steel, they consistently display being somehow several times stronger than steel, able to cut through objects of superior hardness and take a much higher grade of damage. 

Krueger loves to scratch these blades against nearby metallic objects in order to intimidate his victims, their sound will haunt you forever. Freddy uses his claws in a variety of lethal slashes and stabs, though his preferred method of execution is to jab his index and pointer blades directly through his foes eyes. 

Finally, Freddy later upgraded his gloves to be demonically powered, now his claws are capable of damaging any supernatural being, including but not limited to, Deadites, Zombies, Sorcerers, Ghosts and even Freddy himself.

Physical Abilities

It seems to be a common misconception that when Freddy Krueger is brought to the real world, he loses all his powers and any teen with a baseball bat could kick his ass. This is actually not true, 3 times Freddy was brought out of the dream world and every single time he survived an inhumanly large amount of physical damage. He’s been lit on fire, stabbed 10 times, been thrown hundreds of feet, slashed across the chest 5 times with a machete, been smashed, ribs-first, through 40 feet of solid wood and glass, had Jason punch him in the kidney so hard it impaled through him, had his right arm torn off and impaled through the center of his torso, and was launched into a lake by a massive explosion that formed a mushroom cloud, a large crater, caused an earthquake and lit an entire camp on fire. And none of that killed him, holy hell. In addition, Freddy does seem to maintain some of his Dream Powers while in the real world. He has minor shapeshifting, was able to make himself look like he wasn't horribly burned, can manipulate technology and gravity, and his mind has a security system, preventing minor telepathic attacks. Finally Freddy is also able to return to the dream world simply when covered by a bed sheet.

Dream Powers

Get ready for the longest section in this whole blog, Freddy is a powerful dream demon and therefore displays more superpowers than an OC created by a kindergartner trying desperately to win a VS Debate by making stuff up on the fly. The Dream World is Freddy Krueger's domaine and naturally where he is most powerful, he prefers to kill his victims here, due to their sheer helplessness to stop him. Whatever happens to Freddy’s victims in the dreams, IE their mental body, will happen to their physical bodies in real life, this is actually a hax that allows one to bypass conventional durability. If you die in the dream, you die for real.

Now Because Freddy has so many powers, I have decided to split this up into categories for easier reading.

Mental Powers

Freddy naturally being able to enter subconscious dreams obviously has a plethora of mental capabilities.

Telepathy:

Freddy has the ability to speak to his victims telepathically, weather or not they are awake or asleep. Also should his foe actually manage to kill him, his disembodied consciousness can take refuge in the subconscious of those who kill him, this ability applies to him in the real world as well.

Mind Reading:

Freddy can also read minds at a high level, capable of gaining access to his victims memories fears and secrets, even if they have been heavily repressed.

Memory Erasure:
He can erase someone's memories completely.

Bodily Control:

Freddy has shown before that he can cause his victims to sleepwalk into areas that will kill them. However in honesty that is child's play, Freddy has shown he can use subconscious thoughts to mute his victims voice, or even take control of his victims central nervous system. It is a little like Bloodbending, only on a much creepier scale.

EXTREMELY Creepier...

Telekinesis:

Freddy Krueger has extremely powerful telekinesis in basically every appearance he has had. It is strong enough to completely collapse and fling large buildings like nothing, stab through Jason Voorhees and he even once moved a equally sized object at FTL speeds with his telekinetic abilities.

Mind Distortion:

Freddy is an absolute master at messing with people’s heads. He can create all manners of illusions, control animals, and create nightmares so intense that his victims will lose touch with reality and never regain their sanity.

Precognition:

Freddy’s mind reading abilities allow him to know his foe's next move before even they do.

Possession:

Lastly, Freddy can fully take control of people's minds and bodies to use as his own without any real limitation. 

He can take this a step further by physically taking control of the person he’s torturing, somehow physically turning them into him, and there by materializing himself in the real world. In this state Freddy is durable enough to not even be scratched by stabs and gunfire, and retains abilities such as super strength, electrokinesis, pyrokinesis, telekinesis, and teleportation.

Form Altering Abilities

As the powerful dream incubus he is, Krueger can manipulate his body in any way he pleases.

Elasticity:

Freddy can stretch and contort his body as far and as much as he’d like, as if he were made of some kind of sentient rubber.

Shape Shifting:

Freddy can shapeshift into anyone or anything at will, he can be a person you know, a plant in the background, and even an enormous snake creature.

Size Manipulation:

Krueger can shrink to be as small as an ant and grow to be larger than clouds.

Self-Duplication:

A power he has used numerous times, Freddy is able to create thousands of clones of himself at a time each with the same stats and powers as the original.

Morphing:

Freddy has shown he can turn severed pieces of his body or even his entire form into large collections of insects and spiders.

Fusing:

Freddy can physically fuse himself with surrounding objects and even other people and dream manipulators. This is useful for stealth, surprise attacks and surviving fights with more powerful foes due to them now not being able to kill him without killing themselves.

Matter Manipulation:

Lastly Freddy can transform parts of his body into weapons and tools. This includes blades guns and even syringes loaded with drugs which instantly kill people when injected.

General Powers

For complete lack of a better term here’s basically everything i couldn’t find an umbrella category for.

Teleportation:

Freddy can teleport anywhere at will.

Flight:

Freddy can levitate and fly, with or without broomstick.

Shadow Projections:

Freddy can create a shadow projection of himself to kill from a distance.

Invisibility:

He can turn completely invisible.

Portal Creation:

Krueger can open portals in and out of hell.

Unlimited Stamina:

Freddy cannot grow tired.

Hydrokinesis:

Freddy Krueger has the ability to control large amounts of water with his mind.

Pyrokinesis:

Freddy can produce, throw, breathe and otherwise control fire.

Weather control:

Freddy can create large storms, tornado's, earthquakes and more.

Voice Mimicry:

Freddy can imitate anyone's voice flawlessly.

Tongue Snare:

He weirdly can shoot tongues out of his mouth which can tie up and ensnare people they hit.

Magic Immunity:

Freddy can resist any magic less powerful than himself due to in his own words, “not believing in fairy tales”

Gravity Manipulation:

Freddy can control Gravity, enabling him to walk on walls, flip the gravitational pull on others and even trap them in a state of weightlessness.

Sonic Blasts:

Krueger can produce waves of sound which can casually level entire buildings.

Life Draining:

Freddy in the most creepy way possible can suck out a victim's soul, life force, blood, organs, muscle and bone through a kiss. Basically he liquifies their insides and drinks them in leaving them nothing more than a shell of skin…

Spits Acid:

Krueger can spit a corrosive acid that can melt steel.

Glove Constructs:

Freddy can create constructs of his glove and launch them as deadly projectile weapon, which travel along the ground or fly through the air, he can also have them crawl all over the place and attacks foes as if they have a mind of their own.

Dream Drops:

Dream Drops are green bubble-like projectiles that Freddy can use to force foes to immediately fall asleep or awaken.

Superhuman Stats:

Freddy can increase his strength, speed and durability to be as good as any one of his powers.

Avatar Projection:

Freddy can project a physical avatar of himself in the dream world AND the real world. These are durable enough to no sell getting hit by a truck at 100 mph.

Hax

A Hax is a power that allows its user a means to counter a disadvantage in one or more of the stats in the stat trio (strength, speed & durability).

Intangibility:

He can turn himself and others intangible.

Absurd Healing Factor:

As far as healing factors go, Freddy’s at least what VS Debaters would call a Low - High healing factor, able to near instantly regenerate from nothing more than a drop of blood or a very small piece of himself.

Naturally anything you do to Freddy that leaves this much or more of him will fail to even slow him down.

Self Resurrection:

Freddy’s survivability becomes more absurd to what VS Debaters call a Low - Godly healing factor, able to regenerate as long as his disembodied consciousness exists, meaning if you do kill him, he can come back to life as long as you don’t destroy his ghost. However unlike his normal healing factor which works immediately, resurrecting himself is a process requiring a large sum of energy and thereby takes a year at minimum to pull off. Provided you do not destroy his soul his resurrection will always work as long as beings capable of dreaming exist.

Transmutation:

Freddy can transform people and objects into whatever he wants, while turning his victims into inanimate objects should count as an instant kill, Krueger prefers to turn them into harmless bugs just to have the pleasure of squashing them himself.

Spatial Manipulation:

Freddy can add or subtract physical space from surrounding people, places and things.

Time Manipulation:

Krueger can send people to an infinite looping time paradox, forcing them to repeat what they just did over and over like a broken record presumably for all eternity.

Soul Absorption:

One of Freddy Krueger’s most trademark powers is he absorbs the soul of anyone he has killed adding them to the collection on his chest, the more souls he has, the more powerful he becomes.

Reality Warping

The abilities that allow him control over reality itself.

Consciousness Swapping:

Freddy can swap into his physical skeleton in the real world and control it as his own personal super strong, undead assassin.

Dimensional Warping:

Freddy can not only mess with reality in his dream world but in the real world as well, their are numerous instances of Freddy effecting and warping things in the real world even while in the dream, it just appears to be movi….. Wait what the fuck, Holy Shit, Guys those Deaths in the Final Destination movies weren’t over the top at all, IT WAS FREDDY, he must do this in his free time while all the main characters in his movie are awake!

Environment Manipulation:

Freddy can change and alter the surrounding environment to basically anything he wants.

Matter Altering/Creation:

Freddy can defy the law of conservation of mass, in order to create objects out of thin air and alter them to fit his needs, he can also use this to summon large amounts of blades from the ground and giant flaming boilers to burn his victims alive. This ability works in the real world too, like when he was drowning Jason in his dream and it caused real water to start pouring from his mouth.

Technopathy:

Freddy has total control over all machinery.

Body Manipulation:

Freddy can increase one's hearing to be so intense their head explodes from hearing even the tiniest sound.

Creating Monsters:

Freddy can morph people into hideous beasts, in some of the most painful ways imaginable.

Necronomicon Powers

From reading the cursed Necronomicon, Freddy has become a lot more powerful.

Waking Nightmare:

The Waking Nightmare is a spell that allows Freddy to create portals between the real world and the dream world so he can enter and exit them at will. And the most broken thing about this ability is that when he enters the real world through this, he retains access to every single one of his dream powers, free to use them in the real world.

After the waking nightmare was a success Freddy read up on spells and eventually fused with the Necronomicon itself, becoming immensely more powerful and, you won't believe it, got EVEN MORE DAMN POWERS…

Devil-Freddy:

Devil-Freddy is a transformation that grants a massive power boost to the point where Freddy could effect a Global scale.

Cryokinesis:

Freddy gained an arctic breath that can incase enemies in ice.

Resurrection:

He can now raise entire armies of the dead to serve him.

Summoning:

Freddy can summon spirits, demons and even deadite possessed rape trees to fight along side him.

Reformation:

Krueger can reform himself from any material.

Combustion:

He can make objects blow up in a fiery explosion just by looking at them.

Force Fields:

Can projects fields of energy to shield him from damage.

Mind Control:

Can turn people evil.

Revitalization:

Can revitalize himself or his allies.

Cloud Transformation Thingy: (okay look only so many powers have established names)

Can turn into a cloud which can breath a massive stream of flames.

Soul Steal:

Can suck people's souls out.

Freddy Krueger first and foremost has intimidation down to a fine art, he is much more interested in filling his foes with fear than killing efficiently. Freddy also has superb fighting skills, he was able to hold his own against Jason Voorhees for nearly 20 minutes, and at the time Jason had an enormous advantage in strength, durability and survivability. 

Freddy also, through true emo fashion, developed an extreme pain tolerance at a young age, at this point he effectively has immunity from pain.

• His Dreams can contain entire planets and even distant stars

Weaknesses

Freddy Krueger's most notable weakness is the fact that he gains his power from the fear he bestows in others, if the amount of people who are afraid of him becomes extremely low he will lose his abilities and no longer become a threat to anyone. This was established when he was kept from resurrecting himself when the Springwood police treated him as a disease and removed all evidence of Freddy Krueger ever existing and institutionalized everyone who knew who he was giving them an experimental medication called hypnocil to repress their dreams. So thereby anyone who could erase fear or memories of Freddy Krueger from the general public on a large scale could make Freddy lose his powers.
Freddy is also weak to Holy objects, such as crosses and holy water, they repel his evil energies and are capable of harming and even killing him if he's not careful.

Freddy can also be pulled out of the dream if his victim grabs him upon waking up, in the state he'll be far more vulnerable although since he now has Necronomicon powers it is unknown if this is still true. Lastly the souls that Freddy is drawing additional power from may escape it Freddy sees his own reflection tearing his body apart and potentially killing him.

Queen Metalia:

Queen Metalia is a villain from Sailor Moon, a terrifying chaos spawn who rules over the dark kingdom. Looking over her abilities she seems like a perfect match for Freddy and would probably lead to one of the most abstract fights to date.
