Death Battle Prediction: Fuu VS Talim

Wind, a peaceful, free flowing force of nature, said to represent the vital breath of the universe. Wind is pure, free spirited and sustains life, and oftentimes so are those that wield it. Fuu Hououji, Magic Knight of Cephiro and Talim, The Last Priestess of the Winds. When you for some reason think of purehearted teenage girls traversing a medieval fantasy land slaying monsters with blades and wind powers, it’s almost certainly one of these two. But which one truly rules the skies? There's only one way to find out, I'm Thor Gundersen1098, and it's time for another Death Prediction!

Note: for purposes of not allowing outside help, Fuu will not be permitted to use Windam, as it is a separate sentient entity.
Background
Fuu
Fuu Hououji was born in the early 80’s to a well off family in Tokyo, Japan, alongside her older sister, Kuu. Being a bit of a textbook nerd, Fuu was enrolled in a prestigious private school for the intellectually gifted,
which apparently thought it necessary to have their students dress like leprechauns. One day, Fuu attended a school Field Trip to Tokyo Tower when suddenly a bright light opened up in the sky, paused all time on Earth, and teleported Fuu along with two girls from other schools into another dimension.
This was the world of Cephiro, a magical world where one's will rules all, and Fuu, along with her new friends Hikaru and Umi, were called to it because it was in danger.
The Dark Wizard Zagato had kidnapped Princess Emeraude, who’s prayers maintain peace and order in the land. Without her, Cephiro had grown desolate, dangerous, and crawling with savage monsters, before long the world would disappear entirely.
Anyway, once in this world, Fuu and her Friends met Master Mage Clef and Presea who informed them they were chosen to be the Legendary Magic Knights, destined to save Cephiro. And then they gave them awesome magic, armor and weapons to do the job.
The three set off on a journey across Cephiro, in order to unlock the powerful weapons known as Rune Gods to stop Zagato and on the way did battle with numerous monsters and villains. Though luckily, due to their friendly nature, they managed to gain numerous allies in their quest.
Including Prince Ferio, who Fuu seemed to take a liking to, wink wink. Anyway after countless battles the trio eventually collected the three Run Gods.
Which by the way are awesome giant mech suits. They then battled Zagato and saved Cephiro. Well more like almost, see while Cephiro was dealing with these problems, 3 other planets set their sights on conquering the place, wanting to take worlds ability to turn your will into magic to fix their own planets problems. But thanks to Fuu and the Magic Knights, Peace to the Solar System was eventually achieved.
Fuu is a very well meaning girl, very calm, polite and formal in how she presents herself. Her greatest strength is her raw intelligence in practically all situations, she is very logical and level headed, and far more often than not the strategist of the team. Despite this however Fuu has a habit of not being fully able to read the room, often being overly formal and making blunt, right to the point comments. She also is known to state things which are blatantly obvious to everyone present. While sometimes seen as reserved, Fuu can at times actually be very curious and inquisitive, however is not easily tricked. One of her biggest follies is self doubt, she lacks confidence in her own abilities, and can rely on Umi and Hikaru to be bold in her place often. Even though they have only known each other for a few weeks, Hikaru, Umi and Fuu have become inseparable friends for the rest of their lives. Fuu overall is a very kind and genuine person, that said
If given no choice, she will use lethal force on an enemy if necessary, especially when it comes to her friends.
Talim
Talim was born in the late 1600s, as the only daughter of Sanput and Lidi, two shamans of The Village of the Wind Deity, in the modern day Philippines, which may or may not be the most  peaceful place on Earth.
In this place, the people live in harmony and worship the Wind itself and through this are imbued with special abilities. The wind provided them happiness and they it, the most powerful wind manipulators were made into the rank of Priest of the Winds. However, unfortunately the power these people were originally gifted by the winds, fades with each passing generation, often times only possessing a small fraction of what their ancestors had.
Talim however through her purity and heritage, received unheard of power from the winds, more than even the original wind worshipers possessed, and gained the title of Priestess of the Winds at a very young age. Over the next decade she would learn about and through the winds, she practiced martial arts with her cousin, wind manipulation with the elders and religious teachings from her parents. Every day she would pray to the wind, and help those in need. However, things were not so peaceful around the world.
After laying dormant for 20 years, Soul Edge, the cursed sword capable of consuming souls casting massive storms and creating powerful monsters called Nightmare, had finally built up enough energy to use its ultimate attack, the Evil Seed… When this was unleashed it spread a wave of unspeakable evil across the entire planet causing untold chaos. Millions of people across the world were turned into insane killers, or mutated into one of many different monsters known as Malfested which hunted and consumed people. The Evil Seed also opened numerous Astral Fissures, rips in space and time that lead into the alternate dimension called the Astral Chaos.
The Astral Chaos is where numerous worlds and times collide, it’s where the demon Inferno originates and can consume one's own soul if it is not strong.
When the Evil Seed reached Talim, it overwhelmed her senses, and she fell into a coma for days. When she awoke, she could feel the world in great turmoil and tried to Pray the Winds to aid the world. Four years later, a man came to the village holding a shard of Soul Edge itself. Talim immediately recognized the shard as emitting the same energy as the Evil Seed, and vowed to return it to its rightful place. Talim started off on her journey, she hadn’t left her island before, but that did nothing to scare her as no matter how far she trekked, she could still feel the wind.
While following the trail of the evil energy, Talim came across a village where a boy was plagued by a powerful illness caused by another one of these shards. Apparently the kid had experiments done on him using this shard, Talim vowed to save him. She would draw evil energy out of him, into her own body and expel it outward, a process that was extremely painful to her, it started to corrupt her and her powers grew weaker. And despite all this his condition did not improve. Talim wanted to try expelling all the evil energy from the boy at once. At first he was too afraid, afraid that all this evil had made him a beast, but than Yun Seong, someone who Talim had made a major impact on, convinced him by proving to the boy that he is not a monster. Talim then did the ritual and completely purified both the boy and herself, and her full power was restored.
Talim is a purehearted and peaceful, yet also adventurous girl. She loves to explore the world and nature and can be rather curious at times. That said she is also quite wise and can be suspicious and hard to fool. Talim’s kindness and understanding are extreme to the point that she does not place blame on even those who commit evil, knowing that all people are good, and those who end up bad were through unfortunate circumstances making it so. Talim wishes to guide people onto the right path when she meets them.
This is humorous as when someone is stubborn in a path Talim finds detrimental, she can end up being just as stubborn in trying to change their mind. Talim’s name means ‘sharp blade’ because even the last priestess has to face danger in order to survive, and that's exactly why she likes her name.
Intelligence & Skills
Fuu
Height: 5’1
Weight: Approx 95 lbs
Age: 14
Fuu is a very calm and rational thinker and student of a prestigious school for the gifted, as far as raw intelligence goes she is notably the smartest member of her team in both book smarts and intuition and most often is the one coming up with the strategy. She is known for repeatedly being the one to do things like find an enemy monsters weak point, see through a trap from the villains, and be questionable with any strangers intentions before lending out her trust. On her team Fuu is notably the Healer to Hikaru’s Tank and Umi’s DPS, which makes sense not only because she's the strategic one, but also as shes the least experienced warrior. While Hikaru is a world class level swordsman in Kendo and Umi is a championship level Fencer, Fuu actually had no formal sword training before entering Cephiro, instead being trained in archery. That said the fact that Fuu was able to evolve past the basics to keep up with her friends is a testament to her adaptability and intellect itself.
Talim
Height: 4’8
Weight: 93 lbs
Age: 15
Talim is wise far beyond her years thanks to numerous teachings from her village elders and the wisdom bestowed upon her from the winds. She has vast knowledge on how the world functions beyond what normal humans are capable of perceiving. She is also quite clever and a good judge of character, such as when the village’s oldest elder hid away the Shard of Soul Edge to test how everyone would react. Not only did Talim figure it out but knew immediately what occurred. Talim has also been trained from a very young age in the secret martial art of Wind Dance.
This intensive Martial Art focuses on constant movement in circular motions in order to maneuver around an opponent's attacks similar to the chinese fighting style, Pi Gua. Through this Talim can dodge attacks, use her foes energy against them, build up momentum for strikes, and catch foes in one of her trademark grapples. Additionally she is skilled in both Sword and Gauntlet combat.
Powers
Fuu
In the land of Cephiro it is a person’s will which controls what is and isn’t possible, and by the end of the Series the magic knights possess so much willpower that they can use their magical abilities even on Earth,
as well as make portals between Earth and Cephiro at will. In addition to that the General Magic Knight Willpower grants them superhuman stats, mitigation of their physical flaws, and the ability to resist reality warping on a universal scale. In addition each Magic Knight became master of one type of Elemental Magic representing their true selves. Hikaru got fire cause she's passionately determined behind her innocent demeanor, Umi got water because she's transformative and nurturing under her stubborn exterior. While Fuu got Wind magic, as despite her seeming uptight and reserved, she's actually very fun and exploratory, never wanting to be held down.
Anyway with her Wind magic, Fuu can freely manipulate the air around her in any conceivable way, as well as use it to levitate, fly and cast numerous powerful specific spells to use wind to aid her in combat. Such spells include:
  • Winds of Healing:
Fuu’s healing winds can near instantly repair all manor of wounds and injuries on herself and others even from the brink of death, somehow even affecting damages on objects like the wounded’s clothing.
Fuu’s healing is so good that she was able to kill a copy of herself that caused her to suffer whatever injuries she inflicted, and then prevent herself from dying. However, Fuu’s healing will not cure ailments unrelated to combat such as illness or exhaustion, also it is completely impossible for Fuu, or anyone in verse to resurrect the dead.
  • Winds of Protection:
With this spell, Fuu creates an extremely durable all encompassing shield around herself and her allies out of strong wind.
  • Winds of Admonishment:
This spell summons forth powerful tendrils of wind which swiftly grab and immobilize her foe in the air, Fuu can passively maintain these without expending her own energy.
  • Emerald Typhoon:
Emerald Typhoon is an offensive spell, blasting fourth a powerful damaging gust of wind through the ground.
This attack can tear monsters appart, shatter boulders, and created tornadoes and dust balls the size of large buildings.
  • Emerald Cyclone:
An Upgraded version of the previous spell, Cyclone trades the big wind blast, for a large barrage of smaller Wind Blades which can tear to pieces even monsters that could endure Emerald Typhon.
Talim
Talim is the last priestess of the wind, and as such her connection with the wind is one of the strongest throughout history. In the Soulcalibur universe, the wind is a sentient entity and an eternal force of purity and good across the world. As a Wind Priestess, Talim can directly communicate with the wind itself, and is freely granted access to all of its knowledge and abilities at her will. She can even summon the winds to her aid in alternate dimensions of reality like the Astral Chaos, as the winds will never abandon those that respect it. Some of these handy wind powers include:
  • Aerokinesis:
Talim can manipulate the wind in virtually any conceivable way, she can thrown out powerful wind attacks, create tornados, levitate herself in the air and generally use it to increase both her mobility and her striking power.
  • Heightened Awareness:
When It is said that Talim speaks to the wind it is taken literally, the winds have existed around the entire earth since before mankind and thus possess untold knowledge.
With the everpresent wind whispering to her, Talim has advanced 3-dimensional detection of her surroundings at all times, and can learn about events taking place, and objects that exist across the entire world. Talim through her spiritual bond can see and interact with demons, who normal people cannot even detect.
She can discern a person's age, moral alignment, emotional state and physical condition merely by being in their presence and appears to be able to track their location through this. She can also see through disguises mystical or otherwise.
  • Healing:
One of the most famous things the power of the Pure Wind grants is it’s incredible healing properties, of which Talim is a master. There are two different ways in which Talim can apply Healing in combat.
The first of which is a general passive healing factor, which constantly repairs damage Talim receives overtime at a rate of roughly 1% health per second.
The second is called Combat Heal, through this, when Talim Damages her opponent she can absorb a fraction of the health she had just taken away from them, and add it to her own health. Presently it is unknown whether she is able to use both of these at the same time.
  • Resurrection:
Talim also has the ability to resurrect the dead, and seems to be able to do so to a perfect degree and from anywhere.
  • Elemental Enhancements:
Like all of the Soulcalibur cast, Talim is able to use a technique called Soul Charge, which allows her to imbue her attacks with elemental enhancements. With this she can increase the damage of her wind strikes with Cold, Fire or Electricity.
  • Purification:
Purification is one of Talim’s most well practiced abilities, the healing wind can purge disease, corruption, evil and much more. Her Purification powers are so potent she can even cure the malfestation caused by extreme exposure to one of the shards of Soul Edge itself!
  • Sealing:
The wind can also seal off objects into other planes of existence, this is shown as one of the numerous way in which Soul Edge can be permanently defeated. Talim also states in Soulcalibur II that she can seal off dimensional rifts such as the Astral Fissures that connect Earth to the Astral Chaos.

Weapons & Equipment
Fuu
Unlike the other two Magic knights, Fuu actually didn’t have any previous swordsmanship experience before entering Cephiro, instead being proficient in Archery. But that doesn’t stop her from having the biggest and most devastating blade of her crew, her giant magic Claymore. The Claymore is a type of large Scottish broadsword, meant to dominate the battlefield by offering the range and power of a battle axe, with the speed and cutting area of a sword.
Fuu’s Sword when held fully diagonally still reaches from the ground to Fuu’s shoulder, Fuu is 5’1 or 61 inches tall, and the average person’s height is 7.5 times the height of their head, meaning Fuu’s shoulder height is 13/15ths of 61 inches, or 52.867 inches, the hypotenuse of an isolyze right triangle of this measure, and therefore the length of Fuu’s sword, would be 74.76 inches or 6’3 feet, that is longer than freaking Soul Edge. However despite its cumbersome size, Fuu actually seems to be a total natural at fighting with this thing, easily holding her ground against much more trained warriors and savage beasts through her cleverness and quick learning.
Fuu’s Claymore is made of Escudo, a rare, magical and extremely durable substance that connects directly to the wearer. Through this, the weapon is able to evolve to match the user it is bonded to, and change shape to best suit them. When first used, these swords were capable of one-shotting the caterpillar beast, which previously was able to regenerate its body immune from whatever magic or physical attacks hurt it.
Fuu can easily both store and summon her weapon to her at any time from the gem in her glove, a concept that Steven Universe totally borrowed.
Additionally Fuu’s Claymore can only be wielded by her, as if it leaves her possession, it will magically become too heavy for anyone else in the verse to lift, to the point that merely dropping it will cause the sword to imbed itself 7 inches into the ground.
Fuu also wears a suit of magical armor which protects her from damage, and similar to her sword, also evolves to meet her needs.
In its final and best form, which Fuu can access at any time, it offers additional coverage, and magically puts Fuu into her peak of physical condition.
Talim
Talim’s primary weapons are named Syi Salika and Loka Luha, a pair of twin ‘Elbow Blades’ invented and exclusively used by the Wind Worshiping people of the Philippines. These beauties are actually some of the most well designed combo weapons I have ever seen, as they perfectly hybridize the Chinese Tonfa with the Japanese Sai.
Tonfa are pair of blunt club weapons specifically designed to counter midrange weapons such as staffs, spears and longswords by acting as somewhat of a gauntlet to let you block an attack with one arm to close the distance, and then Bludgeon your opponent with your free hand by using the tonfa in a punching or swinging motion.
Sai on the other hand were a pair of pronged blades, these were often used to armor arms and bludgeon, but were more designed to entrap the opponent's weapon between the prongs giving you control, then stab them with your freehand.
Talim’s Elbow Blades blend these two seamlessly to form a relatively effortless counter to mid range weapons, as they can now both block and entrap weapons and counter attack with tonfa like strikes, made more lethal with bladed points.
Paired with her Wind Dance Martial arts, Talim can use these to clear right through mid range combat and get in close, where she can dominate with her small blades and grabs.
Feats
Fuu
Strength:
  • Has Destroyed several Giant Monsters the size of large buildings
  • Is comparable to Umi, who can shatter a massive boulders
  • Cut the sand ray monster in half, which was superior to a caterpillar monster which destroyed a large building
  • Created a wind attack the size of a skyscraper
Speed:
  • Can Dodge against Both Umi and Hikaru at once when they were under mind control,
Umi is fast enough to blitz Ascot,
who can fly across the sky at speeds to fast for the eye, while carrying a passenger a speed of roughly Mach 8.
  • In reaction speed of The Magic Knights are capable of dodging lightning from the sky multiple times.
Hikaru of which, who Fuu still speed scales too, could actually block Lightning with her sword and reflect it back into the senders weak point like a goddamn jedi, both of which would require a reaction of roughly Mach 300.
  • And additionally Fuu can pilot a Rune God, a mecha capable of flying through space and keeping up with vessels that travel quickly between planets, which likely makes her reactions in the FTL range.
Durability:
  • Endured an attack that toppled an entire Castle, this would require over 12 tons of tnt.
  • Shrugged off ice attacks from the mage Alcyone
  • Tanked a terminal velocity fall
  • Took tons of hits from a Caterpillar monster and killed it, that thing completely destroyed a large building
  • Endured a strike from Lafarga the swordsman, who is so powerful he crumbles large rocks with just the shockwave of his strikes
General:
  • Killed a doppelganger of herself, which causes her to become injured in whatever ways it is, and survived long enough to heal her injuries
  • Overcame the Bodily Control of a powerful illusionist
  • Is the sole Magic Knight to see through said illusionist’s cave trap
  • Without her weapon, Defeated a large squad of Fahren Ninjas without physically harming a single man.
  • Her Sheer Willpower is so extreme it was 1/3rd the amount necessary to resist the reality warping of a universe creating god.
Talim
Strength/Durability:
  • Killed numerous Malfested Demons and even a Malfested Vampire, Malfested are too powerful for normal humans to take on, and seem to require building busting blasts to take down.
  • Defeated and Slew the Monster Necrid, who has spatial hax and is strong enough to leap massive heights and shake large buildings with his landing, as well as skilled enough to kill numerous warriors at once. (2000 years ago he also slew a wielder of Soul Edge, but since soul edge wielder’s power varies widely and Necrid couldn’t hope to beat inferno afterward, you can't scale him to the feats of Cervantes or Nightmare)
  • Her Wind power can make Tornados the size of small buildings
  • Can Fight on par with the likes of Yun-seong and Seong Mi-na, each of which is tough enough to take out large groups of skilled fighters at once and slay Lizard men, who can leap from building tops totally undamaged AND survive fighting alongside Astaroth.
Even though they can’t scale to Astaroth directly, the shockwaves of his attacks were enough to destroy Palagaea Shrine, which is roughly the size of a stadium, giving them Large Building level durability just by fighting alongside him, as such a feat would require 14.17 tons of TNT. (It is completely unreasonable to scale Mina to characters like Kilik, Ivy and Taki when they defeated her every single time and we didn’t witness their actual fights, the logical thing is to assume they easily defeated her with no effort, which Ivy’s statements in SC6 backup)
Speed:
  • Talim has a Destined Battle against the character Raphael Sorel, meaning the two are relatively on par. Not only can Raphael attack faster than the eye can see, but he was able to dodge around attacks from Nightmare.
Through this he scales to the most impressive speed feats of the Soulcalibur verse, Mitsurugi deflecting bullets with his sword, and Ivy kicking a bullet out of the air at point blank range, both of which require speeds of double digit Mach, in Mitsurugi’s case it would be Mach 11, and in Ivy’s Mach 17.
General:
  • Is the most powerful wind mage in her people’s history
  • Defeated Numerous Malfested Creatures across the land
  • Purification magic works on Weapons as powerful as freaking Soul Edge
  • Has traveled across the entire Earth
  • Her Wind powers work in other dimensions
Weaknesses
Fuu
Fuu has lacking self confidence and oftentimes tries to rally some off of her more competent teammates. Her over formality breeds over-farmiliararity, meaning she will try to avoid killing as long as possible due to empathizing with her foe. Apart from that Fuu is the only member of her team with no formal swordsmanship training, being completely self taught.
Talim
Talim is incredibly kind to the point of not wishing to do battle with even notably malicious foes, and will often apologize or try to move to a more peaceful resolution, even mid fight. Apart from a few skirmishes with her actual friends Yun and Mina and training with her fellow villagers, she really doesn’t have much combat experience against people. Talim is also very stubborn in her viewpoints and tends to try and overcorrect people who don’t see eye to eye with her.

Battle
A swirling vortex of evil, portal to another dimension, the Astral Fissure, rests on breezy hillside, along the land of Cephiro.
Fuu approached alongside the Prince Ferio. “Lantis found it on his patrol the other day, I still don’t know what to make of it” Ferio said in ponderization.
Fuu stared into its black abyss, “Perhaps it is of similar nature to the Spring of Eterna?” Fuu added.
Ferio brought his hand to his chin, “Hmm, difficult to say, I’ll have to get Master Mage Clef on it to know for sure, you’ll have to keep watch on this thing while I go get him though, and be careful, I don’t need magic to tell this thing is trouble.”
Fuu smiled, “You can rest assured I won’t let anything happen” she said as she bid farewell.
Not long after Ferio left however, Fuu could vaguely see something start to emerge from the vortex, and took shelter behind some nearby rocks.
Talim trekked through the dark portal out of the Astral Chaos, across space and time, pursuing the trail of the cursed sword. To her pleasant surprise, when she emerged she was greeted by a beautiful majestic world of wonders.
Fuu looked at the girl, she looked so young, and not at all threatening, but still she could not take any chances and remained cautious.
Talim stepped out into the meadow “Such a pleasant breeze” she exclaimed before turning immediately to the rocks where Fuu hid. “Hello there, I am sorry to disturb you, but I was hoping you could tell me where this is?” Talim said.
Fuu was dumbfounded, how had this girl discovered her so quickly? Cautiously she stood up from her cover and approached the girl. “Greetings, I am Fuu Hououji, and you are in Cephiro” Fuu said looking quickly at the girls strange attire, “and would you happen to be from Chizeta?”
Talim took in a deep breath preparing to let out a lotta info, “No, I am actually from another world called Earth, My name is Talim, Last Priestess of the Winds, and I am here to destroy an Evil monster that entered here from my world, and threatens the very fabric of nature.” She said all in one breath.
Fuu was shocked to hear she was from Earth, to her knowledge only The Magic Knights could enter Cephiro from here. “Well Ms. Talim, that surely sounds dangerous, especially for one so young, but I am sure we can stop it together, what does this creature look like.”
“I’m not that young, I am a year older than you” She jokingly said to the taller girl who grew more puzzled. “The monster is a powerful warrior that commands fire and lightning, and wields a large transforming sword and armor.”
Fuu grew paler in realization, controls fire, transforming sword, from Earth… she couldn’t mean. “Um, Ms. Talim, what does this monster look like?” Fuu asked more suspiciously.
“It is difficult to say, most recently it is said to look like a young girl, but with my perception, I will certainly know it when I see it” Talim said with a reassured smile.
Fuu was not reassured, she was now sure of it “Ms. Talim, I assure you your reports are exaggerated, Ms. Hikaru is no monster”. Now it was Talim’s turn to be shocked, “You know where she is? You have to tell me, I can Seal her into another dimension, no one will fall victim to it again” Talim pleaded.
Fuu held strong, “You are misinformed about Ms. Hikaru.”
Talim looked down, “I understand, there is a lot of misinformation flowing through the winds about the monster, but I promise you it is dangerous, and I unfortunately cannot let someone stand in my way” Talim said in a more defensive stance, her elbow blades ready. “I will follow the trail myself and end this”
Fuu Drew her sword from her Crystal, and held aloft its impressive length, “I’m afraid I cannot allow that”
The Breeze came to a sudden eerie halt as the two stared at one another.
FIGHT!
“Forgive me” Talim said as she left forward with a powerful tonfa punch at unexpected speeds. Still Fuu quickly put her hand behind her sword and blocked the punch using it as a shield.
Using momentum to her advantage, Talim quickly spun around Fuu and gave her a powerful elbow to the back of the head. Fuu dropped to her knee losing some balance but quickly retaliated sending up a kick that struck Talim square in the back, causing her fall forward, but Talim thought fast and did a flip to regain some distance. The two faced each other again, the same thought rang in both their minds, “She’s Quick.”
The two regained their stance, this time it was Fuu who charged, and took a wide swing with her giant sword. Talim raised one of her arms up, using her smaller blade like a gauntlet as she blocked the sword swing, only to spin underneath the blade and attack Fuu’s leg with her other arm blade. Fuu just in time, raised he leg, and answered by giving Talim a kick to the face, causing her to somersault backwards.
Fuu ran forward to press the advantage, but was suddenly thrown off when Talim shot up into the air in what felt like a powerful wind turbine. Fuu raised her sword up to block as Talim came down with both blades in a powerful blow that echoed through her sword, but in a surprise twist, the hooks on Talim’s Blades latched onto her sword as Talim swung down and delivers a kick to both Fuu’s kneecaps, flipping her over talim and sending her crashing into the dirt.
Fuu quickly rolled and found her bearings, “Priestess of the WINDS, I should have known” Fuu said preparing for another assault.
“I wouldn’t normally be so forceful but it is for the greater good” Talim said and rushed forward, unleashing blow after blow with her Wind Blades in a majestic display, but Fuu’s reactions saw each attack coming almost in slow motion and managed to move fast enough to combat every single one of them. Talim punched with her right arm, and Fuu deflects to the left and delivers another kick to Talim’s side, knocking her to the ground. Fuu then readied a strong sword strike, but Talim quickly launched Fuu skyward with another gust.
Swiftly Talim rose, “Don’t Worry Talim, FIRE” Talim said to herself as her Wind Blades became engulfed in flame. Fuu stared at the fire as she reached the ground and Talim jumped at her for the burning strike.
"WINDS OF PROTECTION!" Fuu Yelled, and suddenly was surrounded by an invisible force field that stopped Talims attack completely. In an instant Fuu dropped the shield and delivered a full powered sword swing to Talim who barely managed to block, being knocked back a dozen meters, her fall being cushioned by her own winds.
“Y-you control the Wind as well?” Talim asked caught again completely off guard.
“Yes, Ms. Talim, and I am not going to hold back anymore, so this is your last warning” Fuu said with determination.
“I must continue my quest, your powers can’t hope to match my own” Talim said in equal determination. Both fighters squared off as the battle reached a new height.

“EMERALD TYPHOON!”
“BREATH OF THE SKY!”
The two powerful blasts of wind Collided with the force of a wrecking ball, Forming a tornado the size of a skyscraper, the breezes in the area all picked up intensely as dirt and debris were ripped from the ground and the two warriors ran forward in a clash of steal. CLANG. Talim Did a flip over Fuu's body and Kicked her from behind, Fuu turned and gave several sweeps of her Claymore, but Talim was too nimble to be drawn into them, as she used gusts to jump, duck and push forward.
'I have to stop her from moving', Fuu thought. "WINDS OF ADMONISHMENT!
Talim felt a powerful flow of air ensnare her body and hold her in-place off the ground. "What's this? What's happening?" Talim cried.
"I Have you Now!" Fuu cried with a charge. "Wind!, Come to my Aid" Talim said as suddenly a burst of air seemed to explode from her form, Dispersing the oppressive snare and blowing Fuu backwards.
'Her wind attacks are invisible, I best not rely on sight' Talim said as she shut her eyes, and opened her ears to the voice of the wind.
'Now's my Chance' Fuu thought. "EMERALD CYCLONE!" Immediately, Dozens of Wind Blades flew towards Talim from multiple angles. Talim could sense them.
Fuu watched in amazement as the shorter girl leapt, ducked, rolled and expertly avoided every single blade that flew her way without looking and decided to attack while she was focused on that.
Fuu levitated off the ground and came down in a tremendous overhead slash.
With the speed of a bullet, Talim turned around and caught Fuu's sword between her blades, it now being hooked and stuck between. She grinned in her closed eyes expression, "Gotcha."
Fuu struggled to hold onto her sword as Talim spun around until the sword winded free from both their grips and flew several meters to the side, where Talim spun in and grabbed the off balance'd girls wrists.
Talim kicked her leg up high, her foot reaches over her shoulder and nails Fuu straight in the face. Fuu staggered backwards in pain, without losing any momentum, Talim turns to the left and elbows Fuu in her right eye, then immediately grabs her by the scalp with her right hand, and brings her head down to meet a jumping knee to the face. Talim doesn’t let go, she delivers a left hook to Fuu’s other eye, the sheer force causes Fuu to spin in place. Talim spun herself the opposite direction, the millisecond Fuu made a full rotation she was met with a final spin kick right at the bridge of her nose, launching her dozens of feet.
Fuu struggled to rise.
Talim looked at her solemnly. “I’m sorry but you left me no choice”
Fuu looks up on her hands and knees, her glasses completely shattered to pieces, clearly Talim’s intention.
“Your vision has been clouded, you can no longer win. Please surrender…” Talim said with concern.
Fuu stood, she looked seeing Talim as only a white and tan blob. "No, I will Never let harm befall my friends, Even at the Cost of my life!" Fuu shouted in defiance.
"I am sorry you feel that way, but this is for the greater good" Talim said sadly as she rushed forward again for another punch. As Talim got closer, her details grew more clear, with lightning quick reactions Fuu grabbed both the girls fists and started pushing back against her. Talim returned with her strength and the two were caught in a struggle of strength.
Talim swiftly Pulled her foot behind Fuu's ankle slid it towards her giving her the leverage, Fuu couldn't hold her back much longer.
'She's too strong...I have to think..What would Hikaru do in this situation..That's It!"
Suddenly Fuu leaned back and Smashed her head into Talim's nose, breaking it instantly and forcing her to break the struggle in pain. Thinking fast Fuu yelled "EMERALD TYPHOON" Talim Screamed as she was blown hundereds of meters away. Quickly Fuu yelled "WINDS OF HEALING" and all her injuries dissipated as she drew a sign of relief then swapped her armor and retrieved her sword.
Talim arrived back and gazed at Fuu's new armor with a green cape and headdress. "When did you have time to change into that?" Talim said confused.
"This is my most powerful armor, and in this I can see you clear as day" Fuu said, noticing Talim's nose was no longer broken 'She can heal herself too?'
"If you can see me, then Bare witness to my final dance" Talim said, now as determined as Fuu.
The Two Levitated off the ground, and rushed forward with the full force of their wind powers forming another even larger tornado than before. They flew into each other at hypersonic speeds as the sonic boom shook the ground beneath the Windstorm. Fuu's cuts made holes in the tornado with their force. Talim's wind blasts clouded the area in fogs of dust
The Two's weapons clanging against each other picked up as they hovered around the vortex of air, unable to get through their opponents form. Fuu threw a Powerful slash but Talim used her winds to drop down, beneath her.
"I Summon, A STORM" Talim shouted as her Blades glowed with electricity and blasted up at Fuu. Fuu even faster yelled "WINDS OF PROTECTION" and the Lightning was dispersed around her shield.
But just as switfly, Talim flew upwards and punched Fuu square in the face, Fuu Knee'd Talim hard in the stomach as she flew above her again for an overhead slash.
Talim grinned and caught the blade between her own.
"You should have learned your lesson last time." Talim said.
"I did, I learned I have to Ground You" Fuu said as she let go of her sword and let it drop.
Talim felt the crushing force as the swords weight caused her to plummet down and slam into the ground, dispersing the gust and creating a small creator.
Talim struggled hard but could not get free from underneath the impossibly dense weapon. She looked to the sky and saw Fuu falling towards her.
"EMERALD......CYCLONE!" Dozens of powerful sharp wind blades rocked from Fuu's hand, only now, Talim could not dodge them as they tore her appart, far faster than she could heal.
Fuu landed safely on the ground, and collapsed, knowing that she had won the day.
KO!
Result

This match was surprisingly complex in practice, not just due to how extremely close it was, but how well balanced their power sets were. For every advantage one side seemed to have, the other side seemed to have something to mitigate that. With Talim’s extra sensory abilities, she could avoid Fuu’s distance attacks with ease, and keep up with her better at close range, In addition to her more advantageous fighting style. That said, Fuu’s advantages were far more suited to the fight at hand. First off we need to talk about one of the most important aspects of the fight, that being Speed. Talim has superior movement Speed to Fuu, but Fuu’s reaction speed is FAR superior to anything in the Soulcalibur series, this is very important since superior reaction speed gives a pressing advantage at close range, while Talim’s faster normal speed would allow her an edge long range. The clencher, Fuu has better Long Range attacks and Talim has to get closer to be effective. This effectively means Talim was at a disadvantage in both scenarios, as she can’t bombard like Fuu can from a distance and upclose she will get outpaced regularly even with her skill and senses. But with Talim’s healing powers surely she could handle the hits Fuu may place on her right? Maybe, but that brings us to a more important advantage Fuu has, the ability to use her wind offensively AND defensively. Talim’s abilities almost all seem to increase her attack power and mobility, with Healing being her one defensive trick. Meanwhile Fuu can do all of these too, with the addition of being able to restrain foes in wind tendrils and summon force fields. The Barrier produced by the Winds of Protection has never been broken in canon even by people more powerful than Fuu, suggesting that someone on Fuu’s level like Talim, could not burst through it, and Fuu can summon this at any time. Even comparing their healing directly, Talim’s is less instantaneous and is far easier to overwhelm with repeated punishment, like the dozens of individual blows of the Emerald Cyclone. Finally, Fuu has far more experience against a wider variety of foes, Martial artists, Spellcasters, Monsters of a wide variety and even several elemental warriors, like the Ice wizard Alcyone, the lightning wolf and even her allies Hikaru and Umi under mind control, Talim didn’t bring anything to the Table that Fuu couldn’t deal with. It was an Extremely close fight, but Fuu simply had the right advantages to carry the day.
The Winner, Is Fuu Hououji…

  1. Wow Thor! Wow! I am stunned! I am shocked! That was incredible!

I grew up watching Magic Knight Rayearth and this was just amazing! You should feel great pride in this magnificent achievement.

This fight was incredibly fair, but even further you captured both characters amazingly. Your description of Fuu was amazing and so perfectly fitting the character. Your description of Talim was so good that it made me interested in her and her series which you know is the sign of a great analysis.

Your hard work shined through greatly in the analysis, being so detailed and full of interesting presentation that it constantly had me impressed.

But my goodness the fight scene! It's everything Death Battle should be and more. It was not just well choreographed but captures the spirits of the two characters incredibly! The airy nature of the two characters in power and spirit was reflected incredibly in the descriptions and the highly mobile, light and nonrestrictive unblocky fighting! The scene with the two creating a typhoon in their fight was stunning! But especially the scene near the end...

A lot of this death prediction I felt like a young girl again watching Magic Knight Rayearth, hoping that Fuu-chan would find a way to win. Just like then the whole thing I was intimidated for the safety of Fuu, but the ending with Fuu logically analyzing her enemy and using her sword's heavy nature as a weight to ground her was just so brillaintly and perfectly her, it blew my mind! Absolutely incredible! I can not thank you enough for such a moment of elation and recreating the feeling of the greatness of one of my favorite series!

  2. Fantastic blog Thor! This seems like a bit of a different tone than your other blogs, not like that’s a bad thing, because this battle was so much fun. It was really interesting to see two characters who use wind as weapons but have totally different combat styles and ways of using their wind power. It was a good choice to pit them against each other especially seeing how their attacks interact with each other. Your explanation of Fuu’s reaction speed and more versatile wind powers giving her the advantage made a lot of sense. I love that she used the unique properties of the sword to give her the final blow; that was a clever way of ending the battle.

I don’t know anything about Soul Caliber or Magical Knight Rayearth but you really made both Fuu and Talim sound like pretty cool characters. Between you and Imp’s blog, MKR seems like a real interesting series. Talim’s fighting style makes me think she would be a blast to play with in a fighting game setting. As usual, I really appreciate the effort you put into these and look forward to the next blog.
