El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera VS Strategy Guide

It’s about time I did one of these for a Nickelodeon series, so I figured I may as well start with my Favorite one! It's been a long time since I made my original El Tigre Blog, I recently updated it if you missed that, but anyway, here's how to be OP in the verse.
Moon Tier:
So here we have the weakest tier of the verse, which contains more Civilian characters like Frida and Albino Burrito, lessor villains like Cactus Kid, General Chapuza’s Zombies and the various types of Banditos, as well as lessor heros like The League of Alliance Society. Characters in this tier are Moon Level and Relativistic, due to Frida’s numerous impressive feats such as enduring a casual laser strike from Sartana of The Dead, which at one point Blew up half the Moon, which is well into the Exaton range, she also briefly outpaced the giant Guacamole Cowboy, a monster who managed to tag El Tigre who can outpace FTL Lasers.
As far as abilities go Frida is able to see other people's mental constructs...somehow, and some of the Bandidos, particularly Robot Banditos and Sartana’s Skeleton Bandidos can take a great deal of punishment before going down due to not having vital organs to injure. The Zombie’s take this to the extreme, able to detach any of their limbs with no negative effects, as well as remotely control all their separate body parts, meaning essentially you will need to reduce them to mush or less to stop them physically, also these Zombies can turn others into Zombies with their bite, so have to not get bitten yourself but also worry about their numbers quelling. Cactus Kid is also dangerous for this reason due to his ability to create Cactus Monsters, these beasts can fire and attack with cactus thorns, which can penetrate things above their strength level. This tier also includes the members of the League of Alliance Society, who all specialize in ranged attacks which covers the lack of ranged options the others had. But ironically the most dangerous character in this tier is the one, the only, Albino Burrito! Albino Burrito has two separate attacks, one being a hat dance he can perform, the other being a Pinata he carries with him, Both of which can somehow make massive explosions so potent, they demolished foes that El Tigre was not able to defeat himself. Meaning these would be potential one shot attacks against anyone that you could counter this tier with via disproportionately high DC.
So what weaknesses does this tier have? Well there are a few.
One major Weakness is a lack of anyone with really good intelligence, Frida is unironically the most intelligent and manipulative being in this tier, and she herself has been manipulated multiple times by a variety of different characters, anyone with even slightly above average Human level intelligence could be an effective manipulator here, and higher than that would be a pretty OP trait. Another weakness is range, most of the fighters here excel in close range combat, and require this proximity to use their most haxy abilities. Even the more long range attacks of the LAS or Albino Burritos blasts only have a range of a few city blocks, and characters here lack mobility increasing powers too, not even having flight, so sniper strats are pretty effective assuming they can get around the super survivability.
Speaking of Albino Burrito, both of his super moves require time, heck even the zombification move requires time and can be reversed, so being aggressive is also a plus as it doesn’t give them time to pull these especially dangerous things off. Past that ngl, having basically ANY hax ability will work wonders here, the tier does Not have the correct abilities do Deal with stuff like that, side effect of being a tier made up of civilians, joke villains and jobber heros. With these in mind let's get to counters.
Amanda O’Neil:
Amanda from Little Witch Academia would be very strong in this tier. Amanda is physically superior to Akko Kagari, who is fast enough to catch the relativistic broomstick Shooting Star, and durable enough to tank the Multi Continent Level blast of the Shiny Rod. While that is not quite as strong as this tier that enters into one of Amanda’s strong suits, her pure melee skills are at a REALLY high level enough to perform unbelievable acrobatic moves and battle and defeat foes with higher physical stats than she has. No one in this tier is that skilled so any small stat gap isn’t really gonna matter, especially since Amanda can buff her stats and weapons with magic. This is all assuming that they even melee to begin with, Amanda can fly and utilize Distance attacks, which would be a MAJOR advantage on range alone as she could easily dodge anything that gets thrown her way as well as just fly out of range completely and still attack back. Plus Amanda can use fire, ice and plant Magic which would be very damaging to the undead and plant based foes she’s got to fight in large numbers, Not to mention Transmutation for an instant one shot. Amanda is basically an ideal magic sniper who covers herself up close, her greatest danger is Probably Frida befriending her. Although for a more well rounded counter...
Father:
Father from Codename: Kids Next Door would be a Powerhouse of a counter. Father is powerful enough to destroy a massive space station and blast an enormous hole through the planet, and Fast enough to Keep Up with the entirety of Sector V, who were able to move around normally while Fathers Animal wave, which could travel to the moon in under a day, appeared to move in slow motion of a few feet per minute, making him a Relativistic Moonbuster just like this tier.
Father is a clever manipulator and genius level inventor enough to repeatedly outsmart the Kids Next Door, who are a Space Worthy Military Organization, so he would certainly be able to out strategize anyone in this tier, and potentially create a device that could take out everyone in this verse, including the higher tiers if he keeps to shadows and plays his cards right.
But even if they DO discover and try to stop him, this tier is Not well equipped to actually do so. Father’s most well known ability is his ability to create and control Fire, which is something that both Cactus Creatures AND Zombies would be extremely weak too, just by proxy of how fire affects plants and corpses in the real world. Past that Father can also attack using Darkness and Telekinesis, which will more than ensure they cannot get close to him while he bombards them with fire.
Father can also turn into a logia being of fire to prevent attacks, as well as just completely stay out or range or avoid them using his abilities like Flight, Shapeshifting or even creating hundreds of shadow clones of himself. Father would be an extremely dangerous foe if left unchecked, and they have very little chance to stop him if they DO try to interfere.
That being said it is possible for Father to lose if the whole tier teams up on him at once as unlikely as it may be, for the best case scenario I would pick..
Aska:
Lady Aska From Magic Knight Rayearth. Aska is the PERFECT counter for these characters, being an extremely powerful magic protege Aska has a wide variety of powers and superhuman stats, including relativistic reaction speed and the ability to fly through any environment including space. While Aska’s movement speed and physical DC/Dura aren’t that good compared to this tier, that actually doesn't matter at all, as not only can Aska fly out of all of their range but can literally fly into space and chill on her spaceship the Dream Child, in fact this is almost certainly where she would START out and therefore she would never be in any danger as no one in this tier could touch her there. Now why is this important? Because Aska’s main power is Summoning, by utilizing her magic brush she can summon forth any kinda powerful creature she imagines and send it down to attack like a much more lovable Rita Repulsa. Aska’s Monsters have Planet Level FTL Stats from scaling to the Rune Gods they were regularly able to fight and even overpower, meaning they would have a sheer power advantage over any of the cast, basically only being at risk to Albino Burritos two overpowered attacks.
Even if the characters DO manage to stop her summon though, Aska can just keep on summoning more until she wins, she will not run out of stamina nor will her ship become vulnerable as all of Aska’s superhuman traits come from her sheer willpower, hers of which being so strong that she was able to create a Massive Bridge connecting 2 planets of the solar system together.
And one may be thinking that because of Aska’s youthful naïveté and brashness that she could be out-thunk or manipulated, but not only is Aska significantly smarter than people in the verse give her credit for, more than enough to work here, but her brashness works well in her favor here, as it would cause her to aggressively attack, and leave her opponents NO time to prepare what extremely few things they could potentially do to defend themselves.
Large Planet Tier:
Here we have the serious threats of the El Tigre verse, the top tier Superheros and Supervillains, characters of this tier have Large Planet Level Stats due to scaling past the relatively weak villain El Tarantula, who stole the moon by physically pulling it out of the sky at relativistic speeds, as well as Hundreds of times the speed of light due to several characters being able to outpace lasers fast enough to reach the sun in seconds.
In powers one of the most notable things is stat boosts, lots of characters can go into impressive boosts in their physical stats, the biggest example would be Carla and Carlito, The Golden Eagle Twins, whose power increases 1000 fold so long as they are in physical contact. This would easily put them in the Low Stellar Range, and it can also be achieved by other characters, including El Tigre, who after summoning the full power of The Ancient Tiger Spirit, can achieve a state that allowed him to One Shot Sartana’s forgotten Dead Kaiju, who in turn was powerful enough to kill El Tigre in base form in one solid hit. With the limit for counters being Large Planet, they are going to have to compensate for characters growing to outclass them.
Speaking of El Tigre’s death, another thing this tier excels at is Regeneration. A large deal of characters in this tier have really good healing factors, the most impressive ones belonging to the main hero El Tigre and the main villain Sartana of the Dead, both of which are able to self-resurrect themselves from the afterlife. This is effectively a Low Godly Healing Factor so as long as Manny is in El Tigre form he simply cannot be killed by physical force and both he, Django and Sartana will need some form of hax to destroy permanently.
Going into other powers this tier has a lot of the same abilities as the previous tier, but is also Significantly more well rounded. The Ninja Monster Clan can exponentially multiply itself, which is like the Zombies and Cactus Kids power but WAY better, even though the Ninja monster clan is not that powerful alone, you will have to find some way to combat their advance. The Tier has some other great offensive powers like Lasers, Telekinesis, Explosives, Elasticity and other such aggressive direct means of attack. But the Tier also has a bunch of mobility increasing abilities on top of this, The Flock of Fury can all fly, El Tarantula has binding webs, Sartana of the Dead can Teleport and other abilities of that nature. And For Defense Sartana is also able to create Massive Force Fields powerful enough to stop the combined might of all the Heros in Miracle City from breaking through, as well as summon up the souls of the forgotten dead, who like the Ancient Tiger Spirit are intangible entities. The Verse also has numerous characters that can Hit intangibles as well.
One of the biggest advantages the verse has though is its high Secondary Stats. Characters in this tier often have enough stamina to fight for Days on end without tiring, good enough range to hit other celestial bodies from Earth, High enough fighting Skill to take out small armies of comparable threats at once, and Stealth enough to successfully stalk other heroes and villains for days on end without detection. Several characters such as El Tigre also have really good super senses to counteract stealth, and the tier also contains numerous technological super geniuses and clever manipulators, so while having high intellect wouldn’t hurt, it wouldn’t be op either.
So what weaknesses does this tier have? Well it does have one big in universe weakness, that being nearly every single one of these beings relies on an outside source for their powers, either a ‘Mystic Object of Power’ or some type of Robotic enhancements, you get a character who has abilities to detect and disarm these then it’s all over for almost anyone.
Beyond that however, Fighters in this tier do not have many specific weaknesses, With their wide array of combat abilities, high secondary stats, and abilities like stat boosts, force fields and low godly regen, they are a well balanced and strong tier that is really hard to out-fight without some well tailored powers, basically forcing one to utilize haxy abilities they cannot resist. Speaking of someone who could utilize a well tailored ability they cannot resist...
Little Bits:
She may look like the exact opposite of a threat, but beware, Little Bits from the Wander over Yonder series would be OP in this verse. Little Bits is an alien kitten who was durable enough to endure the planet busting shockwave of Dominators eruption punch, as well as able to pilot a jetpack through an asteroid field, meaning her stats would only be barely below those of the characters here ...not that she has to fight.
Little Bits’ most signature ability is well, her sheer Cuteness. Yeah Little Bits is able to straight up MIND CONTROL people into serving her merely by acting cute and helpless, when in actuality she is a highly intelligent and manipulative bounty hunter. Little Bits’ Mind hax is powerful enough to affect entire planets at once and she can quickly spread her image on a global scale through her devices, a hax no one has resistance too in this verse. It's also unlikely anyone would discover or stop her until it's too late as ...well come on, lookit her. But even if they did she has shown to have some great fighting skills as well as weapons like a jetpack and laser cannon. NTM with her mind control abilities spreading, it is likely Bits will just gather a WHOLE bunch of Mystic Objects of Power for herself, as they would just give her whatever she wants, so she will almost certainly be an ultra powerful supervillain with a wide arsenal of powers before being challenged.
That said, if enough characters DO catch on she could be in trouble. But why would you steal peoples Mystic Objects of Power when you can simply Be one Yourself...
Majora:
Majora from The Legend of Zelda would fit in perfectly. Majora is the single most powerful villain in the Zelda series, being powerful enough to smash a moon into the planet annihilating multiple continents at once, as well as fast enough to dodge around lighting. While these are not nearly as powerful as the characters in this tier, it really doesn’t make a difference. This is because Majora actually exists inside of a cursed Mask called Majora’s Mask. All it would take is for some character in this tier to find this ‘Mystic Object of power' and he would fully possess their body, becoming a much more powerful incarnation of the sadistic entity. Majora has a LOT of powers that would work well here. He can fly use telekinesis, shapeshift and even turn invisible to allow him to utilize mobility and stealth to compete here.
For his powers he can Really mess with people with his powerful matter hax, able to change people's age, species or makeup at will. He can fire lasers, trap people in pocket dimensions, and worse yet he can destroy souls, which would allow him to negate the regeneration abilities of El Tigre. Also just to put icing on the cake he can pretty much do the same mind manipulation game Little Bits can on top of all of this. His biggest weakness is that he likes to play around and not be super strategic, while he is still smart enough to pull this off, it's possible he could grow careless.
That said he IS just a mask, what about someone who is able to fight the characters HEAD ON, while the more difficult option, it IS still an option, and if you have the right powers why not...
Makoto Nanaya:
Makoto Nanaya from the Blazblue series was basically MADE to fight this tier, heck she's even half animal which kinda fits with the heroes of the verse. Makoto is so strong she was able to violently shatter the moon with a meer shockwave of her uppercut, and is fast enough to battle characters hundreds of times the speed of light, making her stats almost perfect to compete here. Makoto is basically a perfect asskicker, being a total master of numerous hand to hand fighting styles to an extremely impressive degree, she could clearly hold her own with multiple characters at once due to her skill gap. But it's actually even easier than that as Makoto has the ability to generate powerful force fields called Barriers to protect herself from potential physical threats at the drop of a hat.
Makoto possess a lot of strong suits contained within this tier, she's got impressive super senses, numerous types of elemental manipulation, the ability to make clone illusions of herself, as well as the ability to not only hit souls but punch on the astral plane via her astral projection techniques.
Makoto also has Two abilities that are Hellishly Broken in this tier. The First being her Reactive Power Level, an ability that allows her own physical stats to rise to a point where they MATCH the stats of whatever is threatening the world. This ability has been proven to let her grow to levels Past that of the Ancient Tiger Spirit and the Golden Eagle Twins so she simply can't be surmounted by the series’s own Stat Boosts.
The Second ability is her ability to Negate Regeneration with her strikes, in extreme circumstances she can even stop Mid-Godly level healing factors from functioning with this power so...no one is regenerating here either. Makoto is basically totally able to go nuts with anyone in this tier and Comfortably kick butts.

  1. Ah I remember watching this series with you! It's really interesting to see how many of the characters used to counter it are characters from series I know. Especially Aska, That made me really happy to see her be as powerful as she thinks she is

I find it interesting that the verse doesn't have much in the way of individual really powerful points but instead is just really well rounded and versatile. I imagine it made it hard to find a counter without just going completely overboard (particularly for the second tier), but you did an amazing job!

I thought the first counters were all pretty good and efficient fighters using the tier's lack of range or broken abilites and like I said Aska was my favorite counter of the tier in general.

That said I thought the second tier was even more entertaining given it involved more entertaining abilities (probably because it's the tier of the actual big name fighters of the verse and so they were more likely to be more versatile and hax). You're absolutely right that Makoto Nanaya fits in the verse goofily well. I'm sure Slappy and Doreen would be really proud of the squirrel-y.

I really liked in the Aska section how you pointed out that her supposed naivety is both exaggerated and not really a weakness in the verse, as it would cause her to fight more aggressively. That shows clear thinking of the tactics in depth and not abstractly. I also liked in the Lil Bits section how you mentioned that even if she is discovered by that point she would have likely grown massively in power from the verse's own equipments as well as having her own signifigant skill and intelligence and stats to fight the verse with.

    Great Job!

  2. Stitch for Disney, Foster's Home for Cartoon Network, and now El Tigre for Nick :). Great blog Thor; always interesting to see counters in cartoon verses and I think you chose a nice variety. It was also fun to hear you talk more about your favorite Nick cartoon.

It was a smart idea to use range and intelligence to counter the Moon level tier and Amanda, Father, and Aska all seem to fit the bill nicely. Little Bits sounds like a hilarious character, being a irresistibly cute bounty hunter. I thought you handled the problem of power increases pretty smoothly by using the reactive power level powers of of Makoto. I think my favorite out of the bunch is Majora because of his extensive use of hax and also because I am a fan of the character.

  3. Wait a second, didn't I already read an El Tigre blog by Thor...oh, this is on the whole verse? Awesome! Since I had only read about the main title character himself way back when you made that last El Tigre blog, I was surprised to find out just how powerful the rest of the characters are. This series has an extremely high baseline, one of the highest I've ever seen! Starting off at moon level for minor characters and joke villains? Color me impressed! Things don't get TOO much higher but the other tier, where the real movers and shakers lie, was very interesting in its ability to grow beyond its limits.

I really liked the manipulation angle you approached this verse with in the case of several of your counters. Father, Little Bits and Majora all presented a frighteningly insidious threat to the entire world this series takes place in. I love it when people explore these sort of non-physical threats (not that those three can't rumble with the best of 'em either). Also, mentioning those three characters together in a sentence reminded me of how varied these counters are. I love seeing the wide variety of characters used in these "strategy guide" style blogs, and this one was no exception!

Of course, I praise the manipulators and the ultimate counter is a squirrel girl who just smashes the snot outta everything with her fighting moves :P
That's all good though, 'cause this is the one that really made me go "that's OP". Reading over your section on Makoto, at first I didn't think she was anything exceptional. But boy did this blog really pull off saving the best for last. Those final two abilities of her are nuts! Pun intended, of course. El Tigre's regen is one of the most impressive abilities this verse has imo, and Makoto flat out denies it while her other power lets her leap across any power gap. What a girl! What a squirrel? Whatever. Great job on the blog dude, I had a wonderful time reading it!
