Halloween VS Strategy Guide

Well folks my Ghostface VS Fisherman Blog is well underway, so I figured before I release that, I may as well do one of these for the most similar verse to theirs, a Verse that Inspired these two, and of course that would be John Carpenter's Halloween! Now Lets see how one would be OP within it.
Wall Tier:
Here we have what I like to call the “Season of the Witch Tier” because all the characters come from the Season of the Witch timeline from Halloween III. This tier includes a significant amount of Robots, the silver shamrock robots to be specific, these robots look almost exactly like people, and newer models can be quickly made to resemble specific people to help increase their stealth and deceit. These robots have Peak human speeds, as well as superhuman strength enough to physically tear people to pieces, and smash through walls, so those will be the limits for counters. These Robots have the ability to increase their stats in the same ways humans do by using vehicles and tools, also they have Universal Animacy as their separated body parts are still able to move and attack in accordance with their will.
This tier includes not only the robots, but their creator, Conal Cochran. Cochran is the Warlock owner of Silver Shamrock and uses ancient Celtic magic by drawing power from StoneHenge. This power has allowed him the ability to control a sorta pagan light that burns and erases matter, as well as causing poisonous insects, arachnids, snakes and lizards to pour out of any biological thing they hit. Cochran is a genius inventor and is highly manipulative able to quickly build his business into a super popular mask company, for his plan to put a tiny piece of StoneHenge in every mask he sells and broadcast a signal over television on Halloween night to activate them, killing millions.
So what Strategies would be effective in this tier? Well this tier works because they thrive on subtlety, Cochran and his Robots rely on working in the shadows while portraying a very positive public image because they know their plans would not work if they were a known threat. The Robots carry out assassinations silently, and destroy themselves when seen doing so for this very reason. Because the vast majority of the threats here are robots, having some means of countering technology would obviously be really broken here as it boils the threats down to just one elderly Warlock if done well. Cochran needs prep time to use a lot of his more powerful magics, and he himself, despite being a clever trickster, has shown to be susceptible to being tricked himself, particularly by things like sabotage and stealth. It would also help to be a non biological entity if you were worried about being hit by the pagan light.
So what characters could be effective here?
Lisa Loud:
Lisa Loud is one of the 10 sisters from The Loud House series, and very likely the most broken from a vs standpoint, essentially being a significantly more realistic, genderswapped Dexter. Lisa would have similar stats to the robots of this tier, scaling to Clyde’s feat of enduring being flung across 6 blocks by a catapult and running that distance back in about 1 minute, among a bunch of other similar feats. Lisa is a complete and total genius who both has and can invent numerous pieces of helpful technology to aid her in a combat situation. She can use mechanical limbs to boost her stats, and force fields around herself to both shield herself from the Pagan lasers and stop anyone from actually being able to damage her in general. But she likely wouldn't need to resort to this as Lisa is extremely stealthy, able to use technology to walk on the ceiling and anticipate the movements of all her siblings. She has great surveillance systems surrounding her at all times and can even see into possible future timelines, so yeah she's gonna be able to sneak around and do all sorts of things to mess with the foes here.
Lisa has one especially powerful type of device, a machine that floods all surroundings with electrical energy. This would completely overload all the Robots in the general area and fry them as they are very susceptible to that kind of attack, essentially taking out almost all threats in this tier at once.
This isn't even going into some of the wackier things she has done, like disease manipulation, creating life, hypnotising the simple minded and even freaking Time Travel, but her being OP here is already clear enough, yes this 4 year old girl.
That being said Lisa is not inherently a fighter, so could be unprofessional about how she deals with the threats, for a more efficient means of victory...
Sam Fisher:
Sam Fisher from the Splinter Cell series would be extremely OP in this tier. Fisher is an incredibly highly skilled elite black ops soldier in peak human physical condition, able to speedily disarm a person pointing a gun at the door he just opened before they could react to it opening, and smash hardwood doors and heavy body armor to pieces with a single strike. This should easily put him on par if not slightly higher than the Robots in stats.
Fisher is a complete master of stealth, able to break into the literal CIA headquarters without detection and take out other elite soldiers before they even know what happened, there is no question that he could easily break into Silver Shamrock and kill Cochran before he would be able to do anything using his knife alone. This is especially true as none of the Robots will be able to stop him either. Not only does Sam have the stealth to easily sneak past them, and the stats to take them head on if he needs to, but he carries EMP Grenades, which disable all technology via frying their circuits. The Robots have shown to be quite vulnerable to this type of attack before and would even put a halt to their Universal Animacy.
Past that though, Sam also well...has guns. Guns would be powerful enough to kill anyone in this tier and would do so more efficiently than even the Pagan Light beam, they wouldn't be as effective on the robots as the EMP Grenades, but they would be effective enough to say the least.
And while Sam is a human and therefore technically vulnerable to the pagan light, he also wears thick body armor that would not be able to be penetrated by it so they only way he loses is for Cochran to not only find him somehow and hit him with his pagan light, but would have to place it perfectly into his face, or Sam will survive and shoot him, yeah good luck with that bucko. But even Sam isn’t the most op you could go here…
The Engineer:
The Engineer from Team Fortress 2 fits eerily well into this series, essentially being a good version of Cochran who decided to screw the Occult stuff and go full on into science until his arsenal got much more OP. The Engineer is able to easily endure being blown through walls and keep up with speedy runners like The Scout, but his main strategy is just to well...sit down behind a force field where no one can get to him and let a bunch of his mechanical sentry's blow anyone that challenges him to kingdom come! With this strategy already he's pretty safe from basically anything this tier tries to throw his way and considering that his turrets all have guns the Robots and Cochran would get fried before very long. The Engineer can also Teleport around the area and just continue to put down more and more sentries until the entire area becomes nothing more than a walking death trap that no one can escape. Also some of his gear can just let him manipulate technology itself so yeah game over. The Engineer is a seriously damning threat to this verse that only continues to grow the longer the fight goes on.
Small Building Tier:
There is only one character in this tier, the main villain of the Halloween series, Michael Myers. There are three different timelines for Michael Myers series but the most powerful one is from the original Thorn timeline. Myers is a superhuman serial killer cursed by the Cult of Thorn to kill his own family as part of a Celtic Pagan Ritual. Michael Myers is tough enough to endure being blown up in a fiery gas explosion that demolished a whole room, and fast enough to catch up to a speeding car on the highway, giving him subsonic running speed and small building level DC/Dura.
One of Myers’s greatest aspects is his sheer regeneration, able to instantly get up from being shot, stabbed and burned literally hundreds of times through his vital organs. This would be considered a Mid Level Healing factor, and would require him being blown to pieces to be truly overpowered.
This isn’t the only ability Michael has however, he’s got additional powers like extra sensory perception and the ability to make people hallucinate images of himself, using this to make foes see him in every corner and every house, constantly in fear not knowing which is the true Michael.
Michael is a very intelligent killer, able to flawlessly anticipate the actions of most foes, and teach himself how to perfectly drive a car despite being isolated in captivity since he was 6. Michael has a Extremely strong and unending willpower that pushes him to keep fighting and hunting against all odds giving him incredible stamina and an inability to be reasoned with or manipulated. And most famously Michael is a total master of Stealth, constantly blending into the shadows and moving practically inaudibly through any environment. His stealth skills once allowed him to sneak into a police station and massacre every officer present before anyone could call for help.
So how does one Defeat Michael Myers? Well Michael is tough but not invincible, his powers focus on him being really good at Defense, it's hard to know where he is and attack him, and even if you do attack him his regeneration will usually protect him. Where Myers is lacking though, is in the categories of Offense and Mobility. Contrary to what some might think, Michael doesn’t have teleportation or other mobility boosting powers, and has no means of attacking foes other than stabbing and other normal physical attacks. With this in mind some of the best ways to deal with Michael are to use range to your advantage, if your character has even a relatively common mobility power like flight, he’s already gonna struggle a lot to get near them. Past that if they have some good defensive ability, like their own regen, or logia, intangibility or even just some really good armor, and Michael will struggle to put them down just as much.
Michael’s abilities can also be trounced, if someone were to have super senses than they would be able to detect him, and enough damage or explosive power WILL be able to put Michael down, and that's assuming they haven't some alternate means of victory.
This brings me to my first counter...
Animus:
Animus from The Black Heart series would be really OP against Michael. Animus is powerful enough to tank the force of Final’s lasers which are powerful enough to vaporize holes through people and cover a large room’s area, so they would have strength and durability comparable to Michael as well as a similar level of superhuman running speed.
Animus would be essentially the worst kind of character Michael would want to fight, as they are Immortal, immune to pain, and able to instantly regenerate from being ripped to pieces and smashed into a puddle. There is literally no way Michael could even Harm Animus, let alone defeat him. Animus is also able to teleport, a mobility boost like that is not Something Michael is very equipped to fight as they could easily just teleport away from Myers whenever he may get an upper hand, as well as keep up with him if he tries to sleek back into the shadows.
The best thing Animus has however, is just the ability to power ignore his healing factor as Animus can molecularly manipulate his foes doing things from changing their gender to more usefully, Petrifying them into stone. This would immediately one hit kill Michael if it lands, and Animus, given their ability to summon forth numerous giant torture machines, could probably just quickly dismember Michael and overpower his Regeneration that way without it on top of that.
The Only real difficulty I could See Animus having is Michael’s stealth and illusionary abilities, although abusing those is generally not his strategy, and honestly even if it was it would only be delaying the Inevitable. Animus will win the fight eventually, it would only be a matter of time.
But if you are an impatient lot…
Hermione Granger:
Hermione from the Harry Potter series would be totally OP against Michael, looking and acting similar to the type of girl Michael would normally target, only also totally equipped to stop him on top of that. Hermione is a powerful and studious witch, while she may not be as physically strong as Michael is, her magic is able to meet or exceed him in power, and on her broomstick she is capable of traveling likely near 100 miles per hour. Hermione knows a Great Deal of powerful magical spells giving her a much broader arsenal than Myers. She can Create Force Fields that would protect her from Michael getting close to effectively eliminating all options he has to do her harm so long as it is up. Hermione also has teleportation which would allow her to quickly elude Myers if he does catch her off guard to quickly gain distance, although because of the fact Hermione can simply fly out of his range it's unlikely she will even need this.
From there Hermione can simply bombard Michael with her wide array of spells, of which she has numerous that will be able to kill him in spite of his regeneration, such as Freezing him, BFRing him with the vanishing spell and even transmutation.
On top of that Hermione can manipulate a foes Memories, albeit she would need to figure out that using this would be op, but if she did than against Michael that would be rather devastating as she could abuse this to regress him to before he was even cursed by the Thorn cult and he would Lose most of his abilities.
That being said Michael managing to score a victory early on through stealth or illusions IS possible in theory, despite how unlikely it is, for my ultimate counter.
Muffet:
Muffet from the Undertale Series would be extremely OP in Halloween. Muffet has comparable Small-building/Subsonic Stats to Michael’s own, due to scaling past numerous lessor monsters in the Undertale series from her power level of 38.
Muffet can essentially counter everything Michael has going for him. Most obviously, Michael’s Regeneration is practically useless here, as like all Undertale monsters, Muffet doesn't attack ones body, but ones Soul, as Michael has no resistance to soul hax there is no question these attacks would really wear him down regeneration or no. Secondly Michael would not be able to even get close to Muffet to attack her, as she lives in a giant spider cave covered completely in super sticky webbings that even gave Mid Determination Frisk trouble moving. Michael would be forced to enter through here and would inevitably get stuck, allowing for Muffet to easily keep out of range. Muffet also has the ability to talk to surrounding Spiders, these Spiders are not something Michael would pay any mind to and would not think to sneak around or use illusions on, which means that the Spiders would ALWAYS know where Michael is and which Michael is the true one, and would be informing Muffet the entire time. Essentially if Michael went in to fight Muffet, there's no win condition for him as he would inevitably be tracked, trapped, and peppered with danmaku attacks he can't resist. You can't even argue Michael could use determination to get OP because as a being not from Undertale he either wouldn’t have access to that power set, or would have no idea how you use it before its long too late.

  1. Interesting blog Thor! I know the feeling when it can be hard to pick counters because the verse is more defined as being relatively solid but you picked out some really good counterplays against the verse and it's weaknesses.

I don't know much about the Halloween verse but it seems to have it's fair share of tricks like hallucinations, matter erasure, and generally high degrees of stealth. Even if the counters do counter strong I imagine it would still be a scary experience! Nonetheless as you have demonstrated they are very equipped to do the job!

Seeing Sam Fischer in the first batch of counters reminds me of the Snake vs Sam DB, and makes me happy to see him be the OP one for a change. But that is part of the purpose of these blogs, giving characters chances to shine by showing where they'd be op I suppose. Also while Lisa Loud may be more realistic in stats then some cartoon sci-fi geniuses, she certainly would be basically as physics-defying in reality.

I was not totally surprised to see a HP character show up eventually. They may get raw overpowered in vs matches a lot but against people their own tier they are actually pretty strong due to their versatility and hax. But I was more happy and surprised to see someone from UT, which I love! :) Muffet truly is the queen of area denial in that verse and that seems to be the exact counter to Michael. He may take an insane beating but if he can't get to ya, then he's gotta go down sooner or later!

Once again good job Thor! I love your strategy guides! They're so fun!

  2. I'm looking at the calendar, it's nowhere near Halloween! Which is exactly why we need this Halloween blog, to tide us over until October. I really need to watch Season of the Witch again, you make it sound so good here in your detailed analysis of the robots and their insidious master. Heckuva variety of counter picks too, imagine throwing Lisa Loud and Sam Fisher into the Silver Shamrock factory! I really love how you reach across genres and mediums to find answers on how to turn this series upside down without bringing in something that stomps with stats. I especially liked The Engineer here because it made me think of a battle that would play out like a tower defense game: hordes of robots trying to get at The Engineer while an array of carefully deployed turrets guns them down.

The second tier is what really caught my eye though. Who could blame me, this is where we get to see the man himself in action! Getting utterly served. I'd like to give you a hand for how well you explored what Mike can and can't do here, you analyzed his weaknesses and how best to take advantage of them like an expert. Animus gave me that "whoa, that's OP" moment that makes this blog a rousing success, but I also thought it was very slick how part of the reason for including Hermione seems to be she fits the profile for Michael's victims. Talk about a trap! And building upon that, Muffet is the strategy of trapping Mike at his own game dialed up to eleven. A total turning of the tables, I love how the spiders let her keep eyes on him and remove one of his most frightening elements. That on top of being able to easily one shot by attacking his soul while he's helpless in a web, now THAT'S OP!

Great blog dude, thanks for the horror-flavord pick me up! Looking very forward to the big fight coming up next.

  3. Great blog. I think my favorite counter is Hermione; your description makes me think it would be a great subversion in horror tropes if she was placed in a horror verse like this. Your counters for the Season of the Witch characters seem really effective as well, being equipped to deal with the pagan light as well as having the technology to deal with the robots handily (I think Sam Fisher is my favorite of the Wall tiers). Side note: Halloween III really seems like a very different kind of verse based on your description; makes me wonder why they decided to do something so different in the third movie
